I agree wholeheartedly. Plenty of TRO units that have wanted for minis for years.

nominate and vote for them in the polls. thats how many of the AoW units got a sculpt.

the 2018 retail release schedule currently contains one (1) sculpt that isn't from TRO: Project Phoenix or later (the Mongoose from XTRO: Gunslingers). Sculpts scheduled for retail release in the future aren't eligible for the fan funding option. These niche units are why this sculpting pathway exists.

First, I'm not knocking the people who've put their money where their mouths are. I've contributed to some fan-fundings myself; mainly primitives to replace Reseens.

But I suspect the interest for these obscure 'Mechs come from what I'd call the "pokemon collectors" - gotta get them all! I'm largely in that camp myself. Just my battalion making makes me more inclined to back things that can actually be fielded outside one narrow slice of time & place.

But to each their own. As long as the process is contributing to IWM's success, I shall try and cultivate patience ;)

Now I like the look of the Bellerephon ... but how many are likely to be sold, ever? Likewise, the Von Rohr? Even with fan funding, is it worth IWM's time & effort?

Which is why it's IWM's call, not mine.

I would argue quite a few for the Bellerophron.  it may have been a failed prototype during the Age of War, but during the Jihad it came back and served as a cheap heavy hitter in the mercenary market.  it will never be a top 20 seller for the line, but I think it has a respectable niche

now the Von Rhors...yeah I only want one cause it looks like a good "Megatron" for a Decepticons side project I have had brewing for a while. THAT is a limited run piece.

Did we ever get a photo of the Anzu mini?  I am sort of curious . . .

Anzu is set for 2nd Quarter...but no pictures yet.

20-5162 Anzu ZU-G60
20-5163 Mongoose Gunslinger MON-66GX
20-5164 Dasher II 3

The 1st Quarter releases just got to my store and are available but was short the Catapult II due to a sculptor dropping the project. It will be released later this year as another sculptor will pick it up. Not sure if the delay on the 1st Quarter released (they had intended to be out mid-February) will impact the 2nd Quarter releases or not. Speck can probably answer that one.

That is too bad on the catapult II. But if I am honest it was going to be setting on my pegboard for awhile before I could get to it.

I look forward to that mongoose, that thing looks mean in the art.

Yeah, really diggin the Mongoose. I wish IWM could use it for another "Clear Resin" mini at GenCon due to its specs. I'd love to have one.

Do we know much about the Dasher II 3 yet? Like, piece count or any teaser pics? Same question for the Mongoose.

I'm curious how much work it might be to mod the Dasher II back into one of it's other variants. I'm sure the arms will be all kinds of wrong with their claws and no lasers, but the PPC in the chest...is it molded into the torso piece, or is it a separate add-on part? I'm guessing it is molded-in, but you never know.

IIRC Dave is handling the Dasher. I've got the Mongoose. 4 pieces (legs, torso, arms). Running pose, because a Mongoose really shouldn't be standing still when it can be seen.  ;)

Thanks Dave Psycho. Please make the head better. The single piece with torso with no neck just looks....tired.

Who is this 'Dave' of which you speak, and how do I woo him into making 1/2 variant arms with little laser barrels and a 'clean' torso? Does he, perhaps, like beer?

Oh, and thanks for the info on the Mongoose. I was disappointed when it didn't make the fan-funding list and I'm glad to see it will make it into metal after all. What sort of arm connections are you doing with the little guy? Post/Hole? Ball/Socket? Flat surface with a locating bump/pin?

looks like a candidate for the first two depending whether the shoulder joint is sculpted into the arm or torso respectively

What's the Bellerephon from?  I tried looking it up on the MUL but there wasn't an entry.

I've been away from the forum for a good long while, but i saw this post and had to ask if there was update on this? Which armors do you think we'll get and do you think fan funding will open up for some BAs? There are a bunch from 3145 that i'm dying to add to my collection (i'm looking at you Grey Death Infiltrator  ;) )

Speck said a while ago that there could be a few BAs in the pipeline soon. Does anyone have an answer to my question above?
"Warriors, not war machines, are the backbone of the Hell's Horses. While others worship the BattleMech as the ultimate weapon, the men and women of this Clan see even this awesome piece of technology as the tool it is. We have held to this philosophy since the days of our first Khan, who knew that the value of the common soldier far outstripped the brute force of the BattleMech. It is one reason our Clan possesses fewer mechs than most, and has led many to underestimate our fierceness and courage. Our survival against all challengers when others have fallen proves the folly of such arrogance, and testifies to the wisdom of our founders."

Summers; he's far less active now, but you may remember pieces like the resculpted Huron Warrior and Battle Hawk. I can't speak for what may motivate him, though I will also note that the variant choice was a directive and not his call.

Post and hole is what's working out. Those extra shoulder plates need to fit tight to look right. To get the flexibility for a ball and socket you need space for the joint to move, and that's the conflict here. I like to strike a balance between ease of assembly and giving the player options when building. Sometimes that works out, sometimes it doesn't. With a small mini, keeping the number of parts down is a priority.

There is interest by an individual who wishes to fund some BA. I have no information beyond that.

No problem. When tasked with sculpting a mini, I have to work with the art and direction that's provided; the Mongoose's head is not one that's meant to articulate. Any changes going from provided artwork to the mini are discussed beforehand among the QC group. I'm not at liberty to make changes based on outside input. Your opinion is valid, but so is the next person's. To avoid being caught up with opposing viewpoints, I've got to stick with what Brent and co. say.

Ah.  I mean more this:
Here is the 3025-revised art:

But the mini sinks the head down between the shoulders a fair amount.

I'm more talking about the head should look like it can rotate, not stuck down.

Bear in mind, the upcoming mini is specifically of the Mongoose Gunslinger, so there's only that one piece of art that can be referenced.

Personally, I don’t mind a no-neck Mongoose. I’m not the best at gluing tiny heads on anyway! I like the rather helmet-and-pads look of the TRO art actually. Maybe I’m boring, but I don’t tend to do a whole lot with separate heads anyway. I mostly just try to keep them from looking disjointed or drunk. Anyway, I’m pretty excited about these releases. The Anzu, Dasher II, and Mongoose Gunslinger are ALL mechs I want to own.

Not to be mean, but that guy's kinda ugly and looks like a Mongoose' deformed cousin.

The current mini is based on the TRO:2750 art, which it replicates quite well. I see what you mean about the Gunslinger, it's quite different. From my perspective I don't think the head could rotate because the front of the cockpit curves down the chest a bit, but the majority does appear to sit atop a flat upper torso.

Since the Testudo has been assigned the Catalog Number once reserved for the WSP-1, might the Wasp still be released at a future time (whether in the "current" sculpt, or otherwise)?

Were properly going end up having to use the Primitive Wasp until they clear up problems with HG.  HBS Novels even used the Primitive Wasp for one of their novelette covers if i remember right.

That BT code for wasp was dropped when it released due to all three variants making it into the district release.
