Devondra: Some out of game reference to the characters Kiah just dealt with.

Julia Goodbrother: Age: 34.  She's the Ironborn's Assistant Chief Technician.  She is currently the operator of the Ironborn's Falcon Hawk 'Mech, which she named "Bad Sister".  She wants to be a warrior, but Col. Greyjoy has forbidden her from participating in the trials as her current position is too important.  She has been ordered to surrender control of "Bad Sister" after the trials are over.  She is NOT happy about this.  Maria calls her "Jules" and is the only person Julia lets use that pet name.

Fuka Hiyami: Age:25(or 26, I forget).  She was recruited on-world by Col. Greyjoy.  Is a so-called "'Mech bunny" (she's been obsessed with Battlemechs for many years).  Has maintained and repaired WorkerMechs before joining the Ironborn and is a proficient 'Mech Pilot.  She currently operates the Ironborn's Grand Dragon 'Mech, which she named "Shirafune".  Like Julia, she also must give up her 'Mech once the trials are over and official pilots are chosen for "Shirafune" and "Bad Sister".  She is very close with Julia, calling her nee-san (literally "sister" or "sis", a term often used by Japanese women when referring to close female friends) or aku-nee-san ("bad or wicked sis", a reference to Julia's 'Mech; primarily used humorously).

Maria Botley: Age: 50.  She's the mother of the Ironborn's XO Lorren Botley and Mechwarrior Tristifer Botley.  A veteran of Operation: GUERRERO, she lost her 'Mech on Wei, ten years ago.  She's also Julia's cousin (her maiden name being Goodbrother).  She's married to Tristan Botley, the man now in charge of the Ironborn's gauss slug factory.  The two of them are also in a three-way affair with Meifeng Zhou, a female Mechwarrior who is one of the new arrivals who came with the new Ironborn family members recently (their relationship has been kept mostly secret "In-Game", I only include it so you the player know).  She is aggressive, works out obsessively and really wants to get back behind the controls of a 'Mech no matter what.  Julia sometimes calls her Mari as she looked up to her when she was a girl.  She's used to getting what she wants and very few have ever been able to tell her "no" to her face.  Kiah is now one of the few who have.

Looking around the camp for Kiah and not finding her Carl checks in with the duty Sergeant. “Have you seen Kiah? I have a couple of questions about the duty roster.”
“She is off base. She will be back in the morning.”
“What is she off to see Bully.”
“No sir she went to Camp Kaki.”
“Well that is close to the Musashi estate she could see him also.”
“I do not think so. She was not looking like this was for fun.”
“So what set her off this time?”
“That I don’t know. She had Jarrod in her office. It was loud on her part and she had him draw up some papers.”
“OK then I will find Jarrod and see what I can find out from him.”
 “Good luck sir.”
Carl heads off to the area that has Jarrod’s office.
“Hi Carl what can I do for you?” The young lady at the front desk asks.
“Well maybe later we can get that dinner you keep ducking me on.” Carl giving her a wink. “I need to see the old man.”
“Well he is in. Let see if he not in the middle of something.” She heads to the office. “What makes you think I am ducking you?”
“Thanks. Well we would have had that dinner if you were not.”
“Maybe you have been out when I have free time. Kiah has had you hopping a lot.”
“OK I will give you that one. But you still owe me dinner.”
She knocks on the door. “Carl is here and need a word with you.”
“Sure, send him in.”
“Go on in.” She holds the door. “How about tonight?”
“Sure, what time?”
‘Well we will close up after you are done, so how about then.”
“That should work.” Carl walks in to the office “Jarrod what is Kiah got going on she took off before finishing the duty roster with me?’
“What makes you sure I know?”
“Well you were the last person before she took off for starters.”
“Well, I guess you can know. The Arkab sent her a bill for the Firestarter that was destroyed. She was going to talk with Grayjoy as he is the XO of the GSF. I just drew up some paper for her.”
“Wow they got a set.” Carl looks Jarrod. “After some of what has happened I see why she went off.”
“Ya she was not happy at all.”
“Can I see the bill?”
“Why not, you are a ranking officer of the unit.” He hands Carl the invoice.
“Can I take this with me? I have a dinner date that is overdue.”
“Sure just bring it back in the morning.”
“Thanks.”

As he is cooking dinner Carl reads the invoice. “Well they do have a set. Just not the ones they are thinking.” Picking up his comm unit Carl messages Kiah. After a few he messages her bodyguards to make sure she got his message. Looking in on his date. “I hope you are hungry.”
A bit later his comm buzzes. “On my way.” He types in your office in the AM, have Jarrod with you.”

The next morning Carl goes to Jarrod’s office. “So I hope dinner was good?”
“It was very nice. Next time I cook.” She looks him over. “So what brings you here?”
“Just making sure you got to work with no problems. After all you were out late. As for you cooking I have no problem with that.”

On his way to Kiah’s office Carl stops by the unit’s school. “I was wondering if I can borrow something for a bit?”
The teacher looking a bit confused. “Sure, what do you need?”
“Just a little something.” Looking around the class. ‘That, if you do not mind.” He walks to the shelf and picks up a box.
‘Sure, no problem. You are going to bring it back?”
“Yes. I should have it for an hour at most.”

Checking in with the duty sergeant. “Is she in?”
“Yup, she has Jarrod with her also” “
Good.” He walks to Kiah’s office with a big grin on his face.
“OK so why do you need to see both of us Carl?”
‘Well I figured I need to get you both some glasses or teach you to read what is printed.”
“What are you talking about?” Kiah asks not looking very amused.
“You went off yesterday to talk with Grayjoy about a bill the Arkab sent you correct?”
“Yes. What matter is it of yours? And how do you even know of this?”
“Well I showed him the bill.” Jarrod tells Kiah.
“Why?”
“He is one of your officers and it is something that could affect the unit.”
Before they both go on Carl puts his hand up. “Look no need to get in to that right now. As for matters to me, well you took off before the duty roster for today was done. Yes I finished it but you always want the final draft and did not let me know how to contact you. So as per your normal orders you did not job. But that is not the big problem. You took off and did say who was in command. Now that could have been a major problem if this unit was not as tight as it is. Now for the best part of all. If you had read and do mean read this bill that set you off I would not be having the fun I am.” He puts the monopoly game on her desk.
“And what is this you want to play games in my office?”
“Why not the Arkab did.”
“WHAT?”
“They sent you a bill for the Firestarter and wanted you to pay using the money from this game.” Looking at Kiah and wishing he had a camera, then maybe not as she would kill him. “Jarrod you are our counsel and you missed that bit too. So when you hang out your shingle are you going to call the office Dowe,Cheetem and How.” Looking at Jarrod turning red because of his mistake. “Well the Arkab have a twisted sense of humor. I will give them that.”

Kiah looks very confused she pulls out the bill and rereads it.

"You’re saying this is some kind of joke?” she puts the paper aside and opens the game "what is this?"

Carl laughed and sat down "you should see your face"

"I have never heard of this game, we did not play games like this at the academy so this money is what they want to be paid in?"

Jarrod sat forward "I am sorry I did not get the reference either"

Carl shook his head "I see that I will have to make sure any children that come along when you marry get to have fun, all your childhood was to structured you hardly had time for fun."

Kiah sat back "I seem to recall several times we had fun and the punishment that went with it"

Jarrod stood "I will inform all who need to know of this misunderstanding."

Kiah said "call Greyjoy first he needs a good laugh at my expense about now"

Kiah watched as Jarrod left and shook her head "enjoying this aren’t you?"

Carol rose and went to the bar and poured each of them a glass of the newest batch of mead "I am a small person I suppose but yes I am" he handed her a glass and they clicked them together as he sat back down. "Bully will need to make sure the kids are well rounded since you will most certainly be far too serious with them."

"we are not even married yet and you have us having kids already" Kiah laughed "I still cannot believe I found him all the way out here"

"love looks good on you"

"just wait till it is your turn brother of my heart" Kiah looked down into her glass a sadness coming over her face

thinking of her lost twin again Carl thought to himself as he downed his drink and stood "come on we haven't spared in a while lets go put on a show"

Kiah downed her drink as well and stood smiling.

They walked together to the training field where the youngsters were practicing their swordsmanship. The instructors called a stop as Kiah and Carl approached each wearing a long sword.

The instructors called the students off the field as Kiah and Carl stepped on.

A crowd soon formed as the ring of live steel striking live steel rang though the air. Kiah's body guards watched as their leader and her friend fought each other hard. The crowd gasped at each close call, Kiah's sword cut an inch of Carl’s hair off as she swung it close to his head and had to jump back as his sword grazed her shirt and opened it up in a clean slice.

They were deadly dancers’, skill and movement, moving around the field, they were covered in sweat by the time they were done and time was called out by the instructor and a round of applause broke out from the children.

Kiah and Carl each caught the towels thrown to them wiping their blades and sheathing them as they caught their breath

"I am thinking evil thoughts" Kiah said and smiled at Carl who looked at her then smiled back

"seriously?" he asked

"yes, after all I do not want the reputation of not paying my bills to get around"

Carl laughed "I’ll talk to the print shop"

he walked off still chuckling as Kiah turned to head for her longhouse and a hot shower.

“Conchobhar six to Sinclair six, looks like we are going to make it with little trouble.”
“Sinclair six, don’t count your chickens so fast. We still have a long way to go.”
“OK Sinclair have it your way.”

“Conchobhar two to six, I have something on sensors.”
“Six to two any ID?”
“Negative I am getting some interference.”
“OK, stay sharp. Six to all units we have contact to our front. Get frosty people.” Switching to the Sinclair unit. “Sinclair we have something up front. Switch to standard channel two.” Kicking over to the militia channel. “This is Convoy 6520 we are moving north from the Kiso mountains heading to Lanikai. We have a unknown contact. Requesting support.”

“C-two to C-six my mark ones just picked up ‘Mechs. You better beet it back to the hills.”
“Roger C-two. Get your butt back here. We will setup best we can.”
“C-six to S-six time to set the table. You just had to go to the dark side before.”
“S-six to C-six just keeping it real. Too many players these days you know.”
“Roger that S-six. Just hope we get to win this time.”

“Commander we just got a call from convoy 6520. They asked for some support. They have an unknown contact.”
“Do we have any units it the area?”
“Yes sir. We have an armored platoon in that area.”
“Have them support the convoy.”
“Yes sir,” Bring the platoon on line. “Command to 2 – 5, you have orders to support convoy 6520. They are moving from the Kiso mountains to Lanikai.”
“2 – 5 actual to command roger orders.”
“Time to get moving people. We have a convoy asking for support. Time to get the play toys dirty. Move it.”

“Hay Boss we just got burned.” Looking at his sensor screens. “Got a pair fast mover making tracks.”
“Jam their comms. All right people get the lead out and warm up your toys.”

“S-six to C-six we got the road. S-one, two, three, and four got the convoy turned around. They will setup to cover the convoy after they clear the first bridge.”
“Copy that S-six. Big C will host. They want us on the main so they can cover. Militia boys have some toys inbound. I have lost C-three and four. C-one and two are moving to link with them. I am setup to cover the right.”

A letter to family:

So we are currently assigned to a pebble in the pond where the people look and act like loyal citizens of the Dragon, but aren't. The locals are mad because we did our jobs as warriors would and should. Kill and blow stuff up, so the locals sent us to this sphincter of an island on this world at the ass end of nowhere. The fanatical spoiled brats run amok on the planet amidst their temper tantrum. Rather than forming a temporary alliance with the dragon's wayward step children to rid the planet of the brats. We sit here with our thumbs up the sphincter.

Love and miss you all, I hope everyone is well.

P.S. I'm bored

Nejiro News 1
The Boreal Mountains/Kiso Mountains saw a pirate raid. The forces of Ceallach, Conchobhar and Sinclair working with each other drove off these bandits with a minimal loss of like. The Conchobhar and Sinclair convoys move away from populated areas and Ceallach had these convoys move into an area that Ceallach defense posts could lend cover fire. An armored unit form the planetary militia also gave a helping hand. Some were killed due to this raid but to overall loss of like was minimal due to this cooperative effort.
To the brave men and women we thank you for your service to Nejiro.

The Dakuu-orianyusu
Now more bandits raid this fine world. Good people of Nejiro how long will you let this go on? Your leadership is not looking out for you. They just do not know how to protect you. All you have to do is ask for the Dragon’s help and it will be given. The Dragon will not send sell swords, the Dragon will send in tested and true combat units to protect you.

Shin no wadopuresu
Once more you people are not looked after. You now have to defend yourself without the proper equipment. Your government spends your hard won monies on mercenary troops that do not defend you. How long will you let this go on? The Dragon does not care for you. What has the Dragon done for you? Use your fine world that is all. Look around and you will see who will defend you.

Nejiro News 1
Due to the success of the performance they did for the City of Hilo The Dreamers, Fox’s Elementals, Total Tempest, Metal Mon-stars and Base Nova will be preforming at the Yousai Amp Theater. This time they will be playing for the Nejiro Militia. They one more will donate most of the monies.

Gnìomhachasan Rionnag Bright
Today Gnìomhachasan Rionnag Bright said that it may have to close down due to the number of raids that have happened here on Nejiro. They inform us that they just cannot keep the company going due to the monetary strain of the raids.

The Dakuu-orianyusu
Let these fine young people show the way for a better Nejiro. They give of themselves for the betterment of the world. They are the future of this fine world. They understand the kanzei to the people.

See how the leadership of this world does not help the people. A fine company is going to close because they only look after themselves. Only if the leaders here would follow the kanzei the way it young people do.

Shin no wadopuresu
Nejiro does have true vision of what need to be done. Just look at these fine young people giving to others. They are not like the ones that are in charge now. They look out for the people. They give of themselves for the people.

Look more of the same. People in trouble and the leaders do nothing. They will let others suffer so they keep power. If the Mercenaries were true defenders of this world they would have stopped the raids that force others to close down.

I didn’t have any problem setting it up on my machine. Try downloading one of the most recent version. I think 46 is stable.
In other news, the Long Island crew may not be very communicative for a couple of days. The power went down for a lot of people today because of the storm and I just got it back. Suffolk will take significantly longer.

“Cho-sa Westfield to Arkab Harib I need to speak with Tai-i Koger.”
“Roger sir. He is in the field.” The duty Gunsho informs him.
“Can you relay me to him?”
“Yes sir.” The Gunsho looks over to the training officer. “I have Cho-sa Westfield Looking for Tai-i Korger.”
“Korger is in a black out zone. His training unit will be out in a half hour.”
“Sir I am informed the the Tai-i is in a black zone for the next half hour.”
“OK. Give this message to him as soon as he is clear of the zone. I need him to pull some units for an escort mission. One of the villages has had a natural event and need to relocate ASAP. The Nejiro Militia is has sent in some APC’s to help move the civilians and they have some vehicles as well. With all the activity of late having a heavy security escort is in order. The force will need a Battlelmech, Armored unit and Infantry unit. Inform the Tai-i he should pull one other unit for a full lance. The area has some woods. When he has the force set let me know the roster so I can setup transport.”
“Will do sir.”
