[non-BT] Age of Sail: Frigate Action
« on: 15 June 2017, 10:32:50 »

i took a break from painting mechs and finished some napoleonic frigates.

two British frigates - a 40gun 5th rate and a 28gun 6th rate - models by Rod Langton, scale 1:1200

a French 38gun frigate and a 20gun corvette - both GHQ models

to give you an idea of the size, hulls are less than two inch, bases have a length of 65mm (except the British 40gun, which is 75mm)

Frigate Action !!
(in the background two more ships, from the Triton range. quality not as good as Langton and GHQ but reasonable and good for practise  ;) )

Really top job. Beautifully detailed. Lots of time and effort put into such tiny beauties.

Well done  [applause] (really need a two thumbs up smiley).  Out of curiosity, what did you use for the rigging between the masts? (I don't know sailing vessels well, so apologies if that's the wrong term  :-[ )

rigging is correct.  ;)

i use sewing thread for the rigging (the thinnest i could get).
shrouds & ratlines on the british frigates are photo-etched brass.

I agree, beautiful work on those minis.

But what he did not tell you all is that he and I played an introductory game with the "Kiss me Hardy" rules. Nice rules with beautiful minis really got me hooked, so I am thinking about getting some of these ships as well.

Then, I will show him again, why Her Majesty's ships ruled the seas...*insert evil laughter*
