The Beginner Box Set will include two miniatures, the Griffin and the Wolverine. The Game of Armored Combat box set will include eight miniatures: a Locust, Commando, Wolverine, Shadow Hawk, Catapult, Thunderbolt, Awesome, and BattleMaster. All minis will have entirely new sculpts!

*snip*

At the moment, the best release date we can offer is 2018--that's broad, but there's a lot of work going into these products, and we hope to share more of it soon!

I'd like a metric ton, please.  [drool]

I am left handed, existing in a world of righties causes problems at times- especially when that hot brass comes flying across your face, maybe to go down the collar to lodge under the body armor.  So to safely dispose of the left handed Wolverine, you can send it to me after GenCon.  I would not want some rightie to be burdened by trying to figure out how to use a mech that has the main weapon on the left arm rather than the right.

As a fellow sinister, I feel your pain. I wonder how hard it will be to mod the Griffin to have the PPC on the left arm?
Alamo - When you care enough to send the very best.

Surely in the future the weapons manufacturers have figured out how to have hot brass eject forward so handedness isn't an issue. Or ejects backwards directly into the soldier's face and assigned them goggles to protect their eyes, and upsets everyone equally.

Oh! That's why the original Banshee had those shades! They were eye protection for the pilot!

The design and posing of the new plastics look absolutely spectacular so far. I think that offering eight of these beauties will do a lot more to attract new players than 24 of the, uh... venerable models previously used. It's disappointing that it will take ~another year to get a new box set out, but the time taken to update and improve the product will pay off, IMHO.

I really liked that TRO:3055 mentioned there's a Nightsky that swaps the arms for the hatchet and large pulse laser.  And that there's now a record sheet of that variant too.

I havent started on the Commando yet, and the Awesome isn't even redesigned yet. but the commando's new design is pretty cool :)

As for the Catapult and Shadowhawk (this is a different model than the one ironwind made) this will be revealed sooner than you might think :P stay tuned

WHy are we redesigning non-unseen mechs?

Because they need a facelift? Some of the older designs are REALLY showing their age.

because the original designs have aged very badly and were in need of an update.

Well... I'd argue that there are some other designs that are in much more need of a resculpt than these... (Stalker, Dervish, Dragon, JagerMech to name a few)

Because one of the most common criticisms of BattleTech is that the minis look bad/are horribly outdated?

Are they being redesigned? Or just resculpted?
Good news is the lab boys say the symptoms of asbestos poisoning show an immediate latency of 44.6 years. So if you're thirty or over you're laughing. Worst case scenario you miss out on a few rounds of canasta, plus you've forwarded the cause of science by three centuries. I punch those numbers into my calculator, it makes a happy face.

I am curious to see good picture of the various dice and the poker chips. Can't/didn't go to Gencon. Minis look good, even with the Wolverine's jumble.

They are being both redesigned and that new design is then sculpted.

Redesigned by myself, because like others have said, the original designs are not aging so well, and if you'd like new players to keep joining your game, you need good minis.
The old sculpts would look horribly out of place alongside the newseen.

I love the new Locust figure. Especially the cooling jackets on the machine guns. Hope that makes it to the final production.

Oh I've had no issues with the 'Classic' revamp of the Locust either. And the mini for the GoAC box is very nice as well...
I wonder when IWM gets around to doing it that other arm weapon mounts'll be available. I have a 4 x Sm Laser & 1 x Med Laser variant I want to have a mini for.

I am a fan of the new aesthetic. However, I wish there was some better way to keep scale the same. That Locust looks like a 35 tonner out there

Along those lines, I'm curious how the size between the three Wolverines are (Primitive, Nuseen, Wolverine II) stack up

I would prefer a 'plain' base as opposed to a sculpted base, but at the end of the day, that is soooooooooooooooooooooooooo far down my list of criticisms.

The Locust is too large. Half of the prototype locusts we received were printed too large, and one of the large ones was primed. (And even still, behind the scenes, for nearly 15 years there has been a struggle between "let's keep this in scale" and "no, LARGER!")

Those are not production basis. The *prototype* models are not based. These were based and likely gravel added before priming because standard hollow bases were used. I'm not sure.

When they release the Classic I can tell you . . . I have two Prims coming my way, one will become the -7M, the other will stand in for -3R, -6R and -7D, etc.

The one photo for each that I could find were okay but mostly disappointing since can't even see faction symbols on all the dice.

What I would like to see:

Jenner Legacy Anthology
I have imagined that the Jenner to Jenner IIC mystery, might have been caused by a Jenner that has made the journey to the Clan HW and lead to the Jenner IIC.
Suggestion: DC warrior -> Pirate -> Hanseatic League -> Pirate -> Nueva Castile -> Dark Caste -> Clans -> Jenner IIC development
It could offer a lot of interesting perspectives.
