The Mara was created by the Word of  Blake for use by Manei Domini Phantoms focused on aerospace operations.

Cheap, Fast and filled to the brim with one time use ordinance (usually Arrow variants such as the Anti Air or Anti ship missiles)
The Mara is built for Short duration engagement utilizing its speed to get in and out safety even though the 9.5 tones of armor provide some  protection. The LAM is used almost exclusively in flight mode for intercept or strike missions. The mech form is instead being used to allow quicker turn around times as the Mara can literally pick up ordinance and insert it into its own ordinance bays and connect its own refueling clamp.

That being said the speed combined with the flexibility allowed by the bombays and hands, have occasionally been used for more varying missions. Examples include retrieval missions in airmech mode with bays full of fuel, or the desperate defense of their underground production facility, using rocketlaunchers in the torsos together with handheld weapons.

+2 for the Recon Camera and RSD... both are perfect additions to any LAM, and should have been on the originals (if only the equipment existed back then...).

This is my Spider Wasp LAM.  Don't feel like posting the one with the armored components right now. Anyway, I designed this to hunt down those pesky light drone 'Mechs by outspeeding them and surrounding them in ECM bubbles to break LOS to the controlling unit.  No BV or cost done, sorry.
