Nothing lasts forever.

The Klingon Empire almost died several times during TOS, TNG and DS9.
The Cardassian Union was wiped out.
The Dominion was utter ruined.
Actually only the Dominion *force* in the Alpha Quadrant was. The Dominion herself as a nation was relatively untouched.

I thought the spore drive only worked properly with the tardigrade, and that they let him go?  I haven't seen it, but that would put a damper in using it.  (Unless Stamets wants another go at the pain chamber)

They used the Spore Drive with Stamets as the navigator a few times in series 2, so presumably he's willing to get back in there when necessary.

 Re: Picard Trailer.
Loved seeing a Romulan Warbird done with modern effects. It looked larger than the ones from TOS, although nothing in the shot to really give a notion of scale.
Also Seven of Nine (or maybe she's Annika Hansen now) appears to be some sort of mercenary / troubleshooter.
And it appears that Will Riker and Deana Troi have settled in together.

I was kinda hoping that the Spore Drive would just go away.  Its just way to plot device.

On the TOS-era Romulan Bird of Prey in the Picard trailer - it's not obvious unless you look closely, but there was a Constitution-class ship at Wolf 359.

Now, this is because they used the model of the Enterprise post-saucer destruction from Star Trek III to pad out the kitbashed ships in the debris field in Best of Both Worlds part II, but you know, it is there...

And does it get interesting with the latest update to STO...

The network and a (Holo)Stamets are the focus of a new mission, TFO, and Patrols. And what really gets weird is the player helps integrate Stamets' memories left in the network with the Holo version that joins you on the mission into the network.

I am wondering why folks are surprised the Federation is gone?  They were fighting to keep a AI from wiping everyone out at the end of Disco . . . did they give us a date for it to drop?
Well, there some problems with that. IF this is the 29th-31st Centuries....the Federation should still exist unless this is a COMPLETELY different timeline (which privately i think so)
Because the original timeline had this things called Timeships, which the Federation maintained....which visited the 24th Century couple times and even during Enterprise's time.

Such as this Well-Class Timeship from the 29th...USS Relativity

could be a case of "the federation at one point had spread out across much of the galaxy, but shrank due to [reasons]" and Discovery lands in one of the distant regions that hasn't seen the federation proper in centuries.

It's the 32nd Century Discovery is travelling to, not the 29th.

I thought the time jumped to the future it was to that planet way off in the Beta Quadrant that was with the humans. 930 year would get the a pretty good advance of evolves where they were rebuilt into Star Trek modern culture and they started to explore and Disco joined them. But who knows at this rate.....Disco is in all new area of Trek lore.

So yeah, The Trouble with Edward really felt like Archer with Tribbles in.  And I loved that the Cabot's briefing room table had the triple-sided screen like on the original Enterprise

Well, Archer 2099 or whatever they called last coma season was pretty good if you got all the sci-fi references.

Now you are making me look for Archer in a Starfleet uniform.  Someone had to do it . .

Well, I am going to cut & paste Archer's head from here . . .

So, with nothing else to do this afternoon I stuck Way of the Warrior on, and I spotted a shot in the fight in Ops where Colm Meaney pressed the fire button on his phaser earlier than he should - the hero phaser props had an LED at the front that lit up when the fire button was pressed, to give the FX team an indicator of where to place the beam effects.

So in the shot where a Klingon fires a disruptor and hits a crewman beside O'Brien, you can see the front of his phaser shine a bright white for a second or two before he actually fires.  There's a similar shot in First Contact, when Picard and Lily first encounter each other in the Jeffries Tube.  Alfre Woodard holds down the fire button when she's actually pointing her phaser at Patrick Stewart...

It's always fun remembering that for all the serious characters he likes to play, Patrick Stewart is a giant goofball.
