Miniatures of the Fortnight #79: Ostscout and Ostsol
« on: 07 October 2019, 20:40:48 »
This fortnight, we'll look at two of the walking pods, the Ostscout and Ostsol, old, often forgotten friends from Technical Readout: 3025.  Unlike most of the other 'Mechs first seen in TRO 3025, they became Unseen and then Reseen.  The Ostscout even has a metal Classic model.  Unfortunately, there aren't any 'Mech of the Week articles to refer you to, so, if you want to use them in game, good luck!

The Ostscout has had three sculpts so far:The Ossol has also had three sculpts so far:If you have painted either of these walking pods, please share pictures!  We'd love to see them!

Thank you for reading.  And a special thank you to those who post!

Walking pod fans, don't despair!  The Ostroc and Ostwar will be covered in a fortnight in early 2020.

Our next two fortnights will be:
  • Clan (10/21): Invading Clans Luthien: Smoke Jaguar Edition (Arctic Cheetah (Hankyu) and Ebon Jaguar (Cauldron Born))
  • Inner Sphere (11/4): Locust

Almost overlooked this Fortnight.
I will only present a reseen Ostscout in a typical white paintjob, suitable for Comstar as well as an Arcturian guard.
I do have a reseen Ostsol ... painted ... somehow. Looking at the pictures, i would say it badly needs a refurbishment.

While I like Loose's art in general, Ostscouts SHOULD HAVE HANDS (and hooray for finally getting them)!  ::)

This is a picture of my Ostsol and Ostroc from Beta Regiment Red Guard Battalion Rolling Stones Company. It was the first unit I painted with an Air brush and I went for a metallic green.
I may have a low amount of posts but I have a PHD in Battletech and mechs older then most people on this board!

Disagree. It was a mistake and always has been; much like the original stats for the Shootist putting the weapons in the wrong spots, Thunderbolt wandering LRM launchers and Orion come-and-go SRMs.
Epitaph on an Army of Mercenaries

These, in the day when heaven was falling,      Their shoulders held the sky suspended;
The hour when earth's foundations fled,         They stood, and earth's foundations stay;
Followed their mercenary calling,               What God abandoned, these defended,
And took their wages, and are dead.             And saved the sum of things for pay.

Yep...some real bad decisions regarding errata over the years... :-\

One of my favorite minis I've ever done, originally from 2012.
I should really redo the base and re-photograph with new terrain.
