So Aldis on Terra noticed their Schrek unit was still very popular across the Inner Sphere but that getting PPCs was always a problem. Especially in the field.

So what if they also built a version of the Schrek that didn't use the PPC and instead used the next step down in energy weapons?

Enter the Large Laser Schrek. With 3 Magna Mk IIIs this Schrek can do similar damage at shorter ranges and has no minimums to worry about. Well what happened to all that saved weight you might ask?

The original Schrek made do with a mere 7 tons of ArcShield armor. The Large Laser variant goes complete insane with Twenty Tons of ArcShield! This is a tank where 3 AC-20 rounds won't penetrate the frontal armor, the side armor or the turret! So this Schrek is not merely a fire support vehicle but a vehicle you can clearly send to the front lines (despite its slow speed) and it just won't die!

And its like 400k cheaper than the regular model  >:D

Why 3 weapons  :))
The 3 gun mount is always a fugly thing - 2 or 4 looks great 3 looks mostly shabby.

As for the tank, it should work with 3 Large Laser and FuelCell as well.

Keeping the armor the same, you could mount 4 Large Lasers instead...

I think you actually lose a half-ton somewhere along the line.  That said, it's not too bad a modification.

You need more heat sinks for the quad lasers (32 vs 30).  On the other hand, the quad lasers is a ton lighter by themselves (20 tons vs 21) and needs a half-ton less weight on the turret assembly (2 tons vs 2.5 tons).

That's kinda why I didn't put in a 4th Large Laser. It then gets LESS armor than the normal Schrek, which was already noted as thin skinned!

Maybe a trio of Medium Lasers for backup?

Of course there s always the option to go Schreck 2, with 95ton you have some additional tons for armor

Overview:
A resurgence in weaponry demands a worthy platform to showcase it. The Bowshock
has been compared to an early-model Alacorn or up-gunned Zhukov, mounting three
LB 10-X autocannons and five tons of ammunition, creating a pure assault tank
that matches the Schrek in range and firepower, yet wears much more armour:
twelve tons of ferro-fibrous. Loading cluster shot makes it a killer of
vehicles and aircraft.

Where it falls down is the price. Its fuel-cell engine, while lightweight, is
not cheap, and neither are the still-rare autocannons. Combined with the
all-new chassis, it costs as much as a medium mech, and more than double that
of a Zhukov or Demolisher.

I'd keep the Turret Weapons between 20.5-25 tons so you don't change Turret weight which is factory alterations.


2 LL + 1 AC10 would fit the bill at 22 tons and still have room for 3 tons of ammo & 10 tons of armor.

That is a solid body guard for other Shrecks
