One shirt: $25.

Shipping to Germany: $45.

Crazy. Absolutely crazy.   :-[
On the bright side of things, you'll have bragging rights as one of the few people in Germany who has one.

I organized a large bulk order for a lot of people last year. There are quite a few around.
We ordered shirts, hoodies, maps and some more stuff for around 1k ;)

I'd have to reread the section to see if it fits, but the Cave Lion from Era Digest Dark Age is 75 tons, 5/8 XL engine, and 4x MPLs. Also it'd need new owners. The Sea Foxes helped upgrade Nova Cat factories in exchange for some of the production run.
Given the description in "Divided We Fall" as old Steel Viper design and the armament of Large Pulse Lasers it cries for Black Python / Viper.

Would be a logical choice to revive a dezgra design in renaming it. Snow Ravens could be done this, IIRC they do produce the Vapor Eagle (Goshawk).

Do not get me wrong, I would love for the Clan Protectorate to start fielding a Ferro-Lam Cave Lion . . . or even just the Sphinx.

Having looked at the TRO again, I'm really happy that the Pulverizer is still active, and with the Ravens, too.  I've liked it since it first came out.

It's also nice to have a list of official early-Clan refits.

That reminds me. I have been meaning to point you towards the Minsk 2 for your urban renewal Star.

That's the one with the mortar, right? Very cool, just gotta figure out how to fit it into a faction I play. Maybe as Falcon isorla?

I am really proud of the team on TRO:GC. A lot of effort was put in to make units that could conceivably be obsolete yet still be viable in the modern era.
For example with the Omnifighters you can see a tech progression from the Issedone to the Avar as they go from Omni but inferior to regular ASF, to superior. Yet the survivors in 3150 are still viable. Well done guys.

My thing on the fighters were how many of them had single heat sinks.

Its  was an interesting needle for the writers to thread and I appreciate  how well they did on improving on the SLDF designs without outclassing the invasion era omnis.

I think that's a plausible enough technical hurdle that they could have not quite overcome on the first few models.

Though it would have been nice if that was explicitly stated as such in the text.
Good news is the lab boys say the symptoms of asbestos poisoning show an immediate latency of 44.6 years. So if you're thirty or over you're laughing. Worst case scenario you miss out on a few rounds of canasta, plus you've forwarded the cause of science by three centuries. I punch those numbers into my calculator, it makes a happy face.

There isn't enough Clantech with single heat sinks.

Clantech as a whole is vulnerable to XL/Endo/FF/DHS solutions. It was nice to work on a project where that was specifically avoided.

But I bailed out.  :(

Shipping a t-shirt from Germany to worldwide (with DHL) would cost 9€. That's $10.60! Plus packaging and handling, let it be $15. He**, even $20 would be acceptable. But $45?

CGL does everything to discourage non-US customers to buy their (non digital) goods. The business must be really good that they don't want these additional customers.

Alas, as has been said before, CGL have very little, if any, say over the shipping costs.  It's a perpetual issue but the US-based distribution centre is the one that doesn't seem to care.

While this has been said several times, I cease to accept that CGL can do nothing about it. In this case CGL is the customer and should have leverage with the distribution center.

Paying twice as much of the actual product price for shipping is ridiculous. Paying 50% of the product price for shipping of the Puzzle/Poster bundle was steep, but this has reached new levels

What are people's thoughts on the Minsk 2 (or the Slowerki, as I've taken to calling it)?

Absolutely gorgeous. I've already decided that my Falcons are gonna have one as captured isorla, absolutely hate the thing because it's a mech designed to protect others instead of winning glory for itself, and thus dump it on a solahma warrior assigned to the Watch. There its blend of anti-personnel guns, anti-armor firepower, and imposing appearance will be useful in suppressing riots and revolts, even the ones that manage to get ahold of heavy equipment.

IIRC a short while ago Ray wrote somewhere here in the forums, that the DC doesn't offer/use the cheapest possible shipping method.

Personally i'd rather wait some weeks more for *not* expedited shipping for reduced costs.

I would not expect that to change in any number of weeks.
The distributor doesn't offer/use the cheapest possible shipping method, AND seems to have resisted any attempt to get them to do so.  I don't know if the distributor has some shipping agreement in place already that prevents them from doing so, or doesn't want to offer cheaper shipping because they are concerned they will be responsbile for more shipping errors, or what.  But I don't see it changing any time soon, it's been this way for years already without changing.

Doing work at a shipping counter, all I can say internationally shipping rates can be weird for various stupid reasons. Shipping from Germany to the US via DHL is very different than shipping from US to Germany via UPS or FedEx (DHL still has a presence in the US but they lost allot of footing during the recession) Amazon built it's own shipping fleet just so they can have more control over their own shipping rates.

You're a customer too. How much leverage do you feel you have?

Catalyst is not a large company, and I doubt any shipping concerns are quaking in their boots at the thought of losing Catalyst as a client.

I work for a distribution center.  While the big 3 customers get the most attention, heads still roll if we lose one of the smaller ones.  And even our small customers can fine us if we screw up.  Being a small fry doesn't mean they don't want CGL's business.  Of course, if they don't want their business then CGL is better going elsewhere.   I guess the real question is, is there an elsewhere?

a random one-person online shop or etsy or whatever is able to do 10 dollar shipping to Europe from the US, so I don't think your argument holds.

In any case, I don't understand why people don't want Catalyst to do something about it, it's just a question of will. Right now the shipping costs are a complete scam and actively deters all non-US customers from buying anything. It's simply a bad state of affairs that need to be corrected.
