There is actual canon citations indicating the existence of Early OmniMechs which are better spelled out in these threads.

Not the end of the world by any means, perhaps there is room for TRO GC 2?! ;)

 My thoughts exactly, and my hope is with more exposure and the ilClan story closing, there will be more interest.

No doubt.  TRO:GC is a solid start but has omissions and seems incomplete.

We finally get a canon answer to the age old question of who has designed the Kingfisher - Clan Snow Raven
By the way I would have gladly paid more to get more fantastic art from David White.

Same here.
I am always slightly disappointed by reused art even if there ARE a couple cases where the design lineage basically is "yeah we just changed the name for version 2" which justify that.
Was nice to see the Lupus again.  I have a bit of a soft spot for that one with the original hanging on my wall.

Now this talk of a TRO GC2?  I'm all over that.
I'd definitely like to see a couple more first generation battle armors and other dead ends.  I'd kinda like to see every clan's first omnimech of which I think we might still be missing a couple, though I think the non-mech units have more room to expand upon, which is  bit of a shame since TROs have to be mainly mech.

I would not have an issue with that.

But this TRO CAN be considered a sorta quasi XTRO.  Some mixed tech stuff going on, many of the units were prototypes and precursors.

The Peregrine is easily my favorite of the whole book. Not the best design, obviously. Basically a proto-Fredasa running on cocaine, but still my favorite.

Plus, I really dig how one of its listed accomplishments is a great potato raid. Might be my Idaho ancestry talking.

Well that sounds more like XTRO GC.

Wasn't this supposed to originally be an XTRO, and it just eventually grew too large in scope?

GC and Irregulars both surfaced around the same time a couple years ago. I don’t remember either being billed as an XTRO at any point after they became public knowledge (though were always to be PDF only). In practical terms, it is a supersized XTRO, like it all the primitive volumes were released as one book

Intensely curious about the new WarShips, but having a hard time justifying buying it for just those, since I really don't play Clans at all.

Absolutely right. $$$ is a must.

I probably am wrong, but I bet there would be a market. I know TPTB have said TRO sales dropped off, but I think  recent TROs are repeat prints of units from TROs 2750 to what, 3085, right? Speaking for myself, I have all those on my bookshelf, and their upgrades, too, and simply did not feel compelled to buy them again.

A new TRO, with new content, set in AoW or GC (2) on the other hand is worth it to me. I really hope sales are good and CGL agrees!

Several designs are fluffed as being resurrected, and sold to IS powers or built by them. The Coyotl or Lupus(I can't remember which), is especially marketed to mercenaries.

Intensely curious about the new WarShips, but having a hard time justifying buying it for just those, since I really don't play Clans at all.

I feel they can be broadly defined as such:

Peregrine: As I said, proto-fredasa on Cocaine. It's actually faster than the Fredasa, but its weapon load feels very SLDF in layout. Big naval cannon bay up front, a few naval lasers, and a few ER large lasers as secondary armament.

Molniya: Essentially an assault transport, very Fox-like due to having a lot of docking collars on a fairly small hull. Fairly limited in terms of naval guns, mostly focused on anti-fighter defense. I'd say it suffered more from luck and poor handling on the field than any particular flaw in the design. The wolves essentially dumped the class after one bad showing.

Corone: The ugliest of the lot. A smol boi, in the sense that it's less than three hundred thousand tons and is still called a Destroyer, and in the sense that it's functionally a mini-Nightlord. A different twist on the assault transport concept, in that it carries a cluster of mechs internally in addition to the four docking collars. The weapons are kinda all over the place, and also fairly unimpressive.

Also, they give us some firm numbers, indicating that the Wolves built six Molniyas and the Ravens built six Corones. No such luck with the Peregrines, though two named vessels are mentioned.
Good news is the lab boys say the symptoms of asbestos poisoning show an immediate latency of 44.6 years. So if you're thirty or over you're laughing. Worst case scenario you miss out on a few rounds of canasta, plus you've forwarded the cause of science by three centuries. I punch those numbers into my calculator, it makes a happy face.

Because the Era TROs are aimed at new players who rather buy 1 TRO vs 3. It's not really fair to compare a brand new TRO with new everything design to appeal to everyone to a compilation using existing content for simplicity.

Ultimately, it's return on investment that will determine if we will see more. The fact ED: Golden Age and the TRO are both PoD speaks volumes but it's still early to see if there will be a more with other eras also in demand by the community.

I’m guessing the TRO boom ended long before TRO Succession Wars. This is the first whiff of a TRO with predominantly new content since 2016 (xtro primitives vol 5). Even 3150 in 2015 was a gathering of the pdf faction units that didn’t make 3145 (its much more vee heavy). Those were largely released in 2013.

But convincing everyone you know to pick up GC will certainly make a convincing argument

Overall, it is a great TRO. Potato wars, the Woodsman in production again. Lovely. Some units are average, some are interesting, some are good.

Then you have the Lancelot C.

When TRO Golden Century came into being (I was merely along for part of the ride... and became aware of it in 2015), both projects synergized into the current format.

We just had an extended thread about how the Clans suck. It is fair to say that they are divisive.
As a rule products about single factions don't sell well. Why would a FedSuns player buy a FWL book? There is very little interaction between the factions and the Clan Homeworlds in the middle of the 2nd Succession War is as isolated as you can get.
There will be interest in one GC TRO because it has been a mystery for so long. But how long its legs are will be an open question.

If you don’t mind me saying, I think it has been a little longer, because I wrote the beginning of my campaign in 2009. I was probably extra annoying, emailing HABeas using my old UMMS email (which I have not had access to since January 1, 2010). I remember Herb was very friendly, and graciously said there were initial plans, but nothing would be in development for some time.

Of course, this is hearsay now because that email account has long been inactive.

Honestly, I am happy it is out.

TRO Golden Century? People who we're talking about it in 2009 were different to the ones responsible for this project? The idea itself? Oof, that's probably been floating around fir decades.

As for Irregulars, the stated 2012 is the year in which my long-gestating idea was officially approved as an active, contracted project.  xp

Given that it's made in the Clan Protectorate, I'm going to have to experiment with adding the Lupus to my Purple Bird forces. I can only imagine that the new ones are powered by off-the-shelf Vlar 300 engines.

The Lancelot C may just be the fast cavalry 'Mech of my dreams. And the Mongoose C is now known as the "Special Mongoose" because niche in-jokes are always going to be a thing.

And silly name aside, I'm curious as to why the Drift Shag used the 3050U Falcon art rather then the Operation Klondike version

Overall, I very much liked the product. It was a fun load of fluff and flavour, two of the things I enjoy the most. Of course, now I need to get drawing.

I have a question about the Qasar. Specifically, the meaning. From the Q-with-no-U I'm guessing it's from Arabic but the imprecision of Arabic-to-English transliteration makes it hard to tell what was intended. It could be anything from "Palace" to "Subjugator."

Yeah, the moment I saw that I had an internal freakout.
I love the looks of the Lupus, so getting to slam onto into a FWL unit certainly makes me happy. No idea what config I'll use but I'm sure I'll figure something out.

Really interesting product, though. I love transitional stuff, and it's always interesting to see how certain designs evolve into other ones over time. I especially liked the focus on aero assets in this one, nice to get some new (and older) stuff on that side of things.
