So here is a scenario I proposed to our "Battlemaster", and he refined it to the following:
Prototype Test Run
BV: 4000
Units: 3 Mechs: 1 Light, 1 Med, 1 Heavy
Pilots: 2 Veteran (3/4) & 1 Elite (2/3, 1.27x modifier)
Tech: Special
Customs: Special
Forced Withdrawal: Yes
Rounds: First: 90min; Second: till 9:50pm
Special:
Heavy mech will be a published introtech design.
Prototype: Either your Light or Medium may be Inner Sphere Standard Tech (no Clantech) and Customized. This will be piloted by your Elite mechwarrior at x1.27 BV. (i.e. a 1000 point prototype will be 1270 points)
Your remaining mech will be a published introtech design.
VC:
1) Units Destroyed: Total BV of opposing units destroyed. Double BV of Prototype.
2) Control of the Battlefield: Total BV of friendly units not in withdrawal plus half value of withdrawing opposing units not in their controller's DZ or withdrawn. Double BV of Prototype.
3) Control of Deployment Zone (DZ): 1 point per friendly unit that starts and ends a turn in the opposing DZ.
Basic idea is testing out a "new" design and equipment on the field in a combat environment. And small enough to get in a decent game in the time provided (FLGS closes at 10pm, hence the 'till 9:50pm' end).
