The Jade Pheonix only confirms what IO sy since the introduction of the original Templar. The 85 ton bracket of the Assault mechs is simply the most efficient of them all.

While I was apprehensive about the reviewer 'best assault mech ever' it is a well designed mech. It took the lessons from designs like the Night Gyr and the Shrike and used them the make a very optimal 4/6 omni with plenty of fire power and protection.

Also, that little bit about how each Jade Phoenix chassis contains a single milligram grain of armor from Aidan Pryde's Timber Wolf made me laugh. The mech is designed to carry plot armor ;D

Homeopathic plot armor, even.

Well. It depends what characteristics you desire in an assault. The Pheonix blends Firepower, Mobility and Armor in a very efficient way. Of course if you desire more firepower, then other assaults might be better for you. It is is the combination of all these characteristics which make the Jade Pheonix almost perfect.

I don't consider it perfect, think that statement is loaded but it's a well made machine, can't wait to use it for target practice ;)

I didn't say it was perfect; I said it was the best. I can't think of another OmniMech with a comparable blend of armor, speed, and firepower.

Slightly surprised they didn't double down on the branding and make the Prime config a jumper with LRMs and lasers.

Per the Notable Warriors section, there is someone running around with a configuration like that, but we don't have stats. I think when I tried to make it I had to make the arm lasers pulse instead of ER, and I added a second ERSL o' Doom, but otherwise pretty close to Pryde's ride.

I'd wager that the pilot ability that negates the penalty for jumping movement on attack rolls is quite common among Falcon warriors.

That or a couple of weapon specialists with certain weapons... Maybe an UAC20? The only change on the A I would make is remove 1 ton of ammo (Three is enough for me in most games) and exchange the small Pulse for a second Medium. Prime is nice. I like the HAG 30, since it is imo the most efficient HAG. The 40 needs to many ammo bins.

Hmm. The ATM config. Wouldn't it be better to ditch the SRMs and work with 3 ATM 9, instead of 2 ATM 12? Just my opinion.

Looking at the pod capacity, wouln't a Penetrator like Config possible with this thing?

6 improved Jets 12 Tons
2 Large Pulses, 12 Tons
6 Med Pulses 12 Tons.

And you can add a LASER AMS too. 37 Tons of pod space is nice.

Finally got the chance to take this mech out for a spin myself instead of being on the receiving end of it.  Ran a B variant, was not disappointed in its performance.  It took the head off a Shadow Cat III, though that was a mercy-kill after the mech blew a MASC check and ended up with a blown hip (and knee on the other leg).  Then it really savaged the armor on a War Crow Prime- that mech was still standing at the end of the game but it really had no frontal armor left by that point and the JP was still looking pretty good.
