By contrast there is no doubt that converting an M5 to an M-5.1 is a C level conversion because it removes the NAC-25s, the broadside AR-10s, removes the Self Destruct, adds AMS, and adds armor.  Since the Self Destruct is not listed as an option in the table either it is not clear how long that takes but my napkin math says it is possible to do that conversion in about a year, maybe a year and a half.  I'm going to keep with 2.5-3 to reflect a bottleneck of producing/acquiring enough Ferro Carbide for Helena's support industries.

Sorry Gio!  I thought I said which book they were in...  :-\

Production bottlenecks make perfect sense to me!

And for the other Essex II that Cannonshop encouraged me to allow Helena to capture during the Jihad.

How much of this is Blakist and how much is Truk just having a go at being an architect I will leave up to people to decide.  That and I'm too lazy to change MekLabs' settings to put the proper ATACs in there.

BEING SUPER CLEAR THAT THIS IS NOT THE SAME ESSEX II UNDER GOING SDS CONVERSION AT PORT ORPHAN

Small correction to the number of drones that can be controlled via ATACs.  Yes I'm still too lazy to put the proper ATACs on there.  So you're all stuck with DTACs.

Okay interesting question time.

So you know that Essex II I put up there?  My best estimation is to even doing that would take just shy of three years.

Armor 631 points of Ferro Carbide takes 1262 hours.
ASF bays adding 6 would take 1008.
No SDS listed so I figure fair would be Avionics and CIC for a combined 152 hours.

Sub-total before refit modifier:

2422 hours.

My best guess is this would be a F level refit so multiply that by 10.

So 24220 hours.  Or 33 months, 19 days, and 4 hours.

For larger hulls, does it allow for parallel refits?

I.e. one tech crew installing the ASF Bays, a second crew installing the armor, a third tech crew working on the SDS hardware?

This would be a refit time of 1262 hours from the armor, assuming you can't install the armor in multiple locations at the same time.  Since the Essex II you listed is ~600 meters long, I'd assume you can have more than one team refitting the armor.

Does Campaign Operations allow for multiple teams to work on Large Spacecraft?

To be honest I don't think the Devs really thought about it too hard.

Judging off how far simpler Blue Water ships during the interwar periods could take years to complete those refits/conversions I'd actually almost say the times I came up with are pretty accurate for optimum number of teams working in parallel.

For truly complex refits, you might consider tacking on the Mothballs time (both going in and coming out).

Made a correction to Los Alamos but it is making me think about why I even changed to ARTs bays or even have Drone Controllers on there.

While I ponder some of the rules and if I really need that here have a better SLS Phoenix.

For me those 'pre' tags make the font size smaller and harder to read, and as a result I wind up skipping post that use them.  I've attached a small sample of what I see whenever they are used.

Huh.  Odd.  I do see it as a bit smaller but not that much.  Code always winds up having issues with window scrolling for me so I've always preffered pre to code.

SSW, at least, gives you text that shouldn't require side scrolling.

I also get weird issues with vertical scrolling or I'd be a lot easier to convince to go to code over pre.

But I went through and added font size tags to help with the shrinking font issue to everything that needed it.

So Cannonshop got me to remember something that I sort of forgot about.  During the Battle of Lazarus there was another AI involved that actually got de-hulled engaging a modified Word of Blake Congress.

So Los Alamos may be getting one more refit and we're now also spitballing ideas of what to do with said Congress.  So far I've already decided my calling it out as modified means it has a WoB installed LFB.  So it'll be nice and spicey by the time I'm done with it.

But stats need to wait a bit.

Hmmm... any chance those NL/35s on the Essex could (or will eventually) be refitted to 45s? ???

No good source/salvage for 45s.  I can go all the way to 55s from M5 salvage.

That would work too... it's the Extreme Range Bracket you gain.

Yeah some of the design decisions for a lot of Star League era ships are just baffling.  So if I'm going to do that I might as well also say they salvaged some HNPPCs and figured out better mounting points for half of them in the process and straight swapped for the MNPPCs.  That is all the more I think I dare take from the cargo hold now though.

Standard maxing armor for the SI and AMS package to improve survival in a post SLDF environment.  Traded the NAC-40s for the NAC-25s on a one for one basis pulled from the M5 conversions to both claw back some cargo space while giving it a bit more range without de-fanging it completely.  ERed the Large Laser batteries since you can get those pretty readily via merc markets.  Halved then ARTs the Fighter Bays.  This is still a pretty mean ship of the line.  Pray it does not ring your bell spreading Liberty.

Nice, but I think that's "Stephen", not "Stephan"... :)

And the clanner conversion for these ER Large batteries will gain another point of Capital grade damage!

Hmmm might be worth it on the Stephen Decatuer because those batteries are big enough the weight savings would allow it to add another gun to each bay and some more heatsinks to cover the heat burden but the rest while it would be an upgrade not sure it is worth the bother with how narrow the gap between standard Extreme and standard Long Range actually is.

And yeah that ship is eventually getting renamed properly to something I do not misspell so often.

Aside from being in the Navy, my sister lives in Decatur Illinois, so I rarely get it wrong... :)

When you're shooting at incoming ASFs armed with nukes, every hex of range counts!

I tossed the LRM-15 because as much as the Carrier conversions have substantially more cargo they also have more crew and other demands on that cargo so if there was going to be anything that used ammo on the fighter it was going to be AMS.

It lost some overall ranged firepower but what it kept means in most fights it actually gains in overall firepower and the electronics will also help keep it alive.

More fuel and more armor to keep them in the fight a bit longer to round them out and they'd be pretty okay as jack of all trades without being too generalist I think.
