Just watched a very bad sci-fi movie from 28 years ago, starring Dennis Hopper: Space Truckers.

Was horribly entertaining, and a lot of the visuals actually reminded me of Cowboy Bebop.

So, that was one of the few SF movies to be filmed in Ireland, and they actually set up an effects shop in Dublin to work on it.  The model department used citadel slottabases for greeblies on the spaceships, and that was a source of great amusement in the gaming scene here at the time.

When I was younger, my parents were watching Space Truckers and I thought it was a cool movie, at the time.

Is Deep Purple's "Space Truckin" part of the soundtrack?

what is it about?

Animated series of Critical Role’s actual play first campaign.

So, animated version of a D&D 5e campaign from a bunch of nerdy asses voice actors.

They did a kickstarter or something to fund one season of a few episodes, and got enough to expand to 12 episodes and it’s popular enough that they are about to do a fourth season and start another series for their second campaign.

Lockerbie: A Search for Truth miniseries (2024) Dramatization of the terror bombing in Scotland, with a doctor who lost his daughter as the main character. It paints a very sympathetic figure of the suspect, and it posits he might not have done it, or was a part of a larger conspiracy. I originally thought the whole affair was cut and dried, now Im not so sure. It drags in spots, but overall is a pretty good show. Rating: 8/10

Beware of accepting what you see in a dramatization of actual events as being true.  It is, after all, trying to make things more dramatic.

Of course its a dramatization, but doing my own research on the subject brings up some unnerving questions about the whole affair.

A friend of mine and I have started doing dinner and a movie nights where one of us gets some take out and we watch something while we eat.  Tonight we decided to rewatch the original 1997 Men In Black.  Can't remember how long it's been since I've seen it, but it was definitely last in the 90s.  I felt like it still held up fairly well, though there are definitely some jokes that would get howls of outrage if they were told today.
