No, I can deal with Amorak, it was special for the IlClan Trial but the Nightwolf is a jack-of-all trades stinker that has appeared very rarely in fiction Tomahawk II would have been better as they played more of a role in the establishment of the Empire and Terran invasion.  Or I will even throw SteveRestless a bone- a Woodsman!  It would have been better for a Tundra Wolf or even the specialist Warwolf over the POS Dominator.

The IlClan box is a secondline star with the exception of the Wulfen.

The Dominator has become one of their go-to mechs in the new fiction thanks to the Battle of Terra and the Wolf Dragoons. I would have also preferred a Tundra Wolf somewhere as it represents the Dark Age fiction. I think the personally think the Night Wolf is alright as a mech, but I also agree that the Tomahawk (or II) would be just as justified.

Than again I want everything in plastic mechs lol

That’s what I thought.

In which case, yeah, there is nothing scarier than drawing a Recon encounter and needing to roll a 1. Which is ironic on any number of levels…

If you’re early in the contract when you have a pile of dice it shouldn’t be too bad. Later on… yes. It’s tough to get a “1” on a single die, but then; getting a “7” is even worse.

Theoretically, sure, but it’s still uniquely difficult because it needs to be a roll of 1. Any other target can be achieved by combining two dice to clear the encounter.

Obviously equipment will have an outside influence, though, so your mileage will vary.

I got to flip through a copy of the Davion book today at the Reunification tour event and it looks so nifty!  All the standard lore bits you would expect of the nation's history and all, great photos, and my personal favorite bits were the breakdowns of all the regiments, usually coming with a paint scheme, some background info, and a tech breakdown of their units.  I really liked it and look forward to buying it when it is out.

CGL could split the WOB pack in two and fit in some more of their signature mechs - legacy, initiate, buccaneer, gurkha, Toyama, red shift, blue flame, or vanquisher.

Still, we might see a WOB pack if the celestial pack sells like hotcakes.

I really hope they don't. The current pack is an instant buy, diluting the Celestials would make me skip it entirely

I don't think you need to worry much, if they do Celestials at all they are going to do a full box of them rather than splitting them up, which makes quite a bit of sense, given thier reputation and use in-universe.  They are so reviled that they, almost uniquely in the Battletech universe wouldn't be fielded as salvage (also the need to re-engineer for non-cyborgs).  And they are pretty divisive in terms of if players want them or not.  So it makes a great deal of sense to keep them all in one pack where you can buy them if you want to, but skip them if you don't want them.  It is FAR more likely that we get a second pack with all the other WoB mechs that AREN'T the Celestials than they split up the celestial pack.

Worth noting that not all Manei Domini had DNI implants, and not all Celestials were fielded by the Manei Domini.  The Grigori especially found its way to regular Militia formations, and the Deva's notable pilot in TRO: 3075 is regular Militia

I'd rather we buy lots of Celestial packs and then get a separate WoB sig-'Mech pack. I plan on building WH White Tiger for funsies w/these rather than add too many more Celestials to my 53rd SD, but I'd definitely get more Wobblies down the road for a militia or line Division force, especially with the vehicle packs in general circulation by then.

Agreed. I prefer to be able to buy all the Celestials in one pack, instead of having to scavenge them from different ones. That said, I hope they do more packs for the WoB, or at least recognisable enough to be associated with them, or ComStar.

This. A second WoB pack for the Militia would be great. Put the Toyama, Legacy, and Titan II in it. Maybe put the Shootist in it too for those who want to paint one up as Apollyon’s.

I plan on building WH White Tiger for funsies.

It amazes me how similar our personal tastes are even after all these years, lol. This is literally my exact plan, except it’s for my own Thuggee WH. 😂

That Illician Lancers could have been a purely Ost lance with the Ostscout.
I thought the same thing.  We're getting the Ostscout in the Merc KS IS Recon Lance, but also the Ostroc in the IS Heavy Recon Lance, while the Ostsol will be in the Mercs Box Set.  Not sure of what Models though.   :undecided:  The only really "New" one (by the time it drops) will be the Ostwar.

If the list says the same Im going to get at least 1 of every pack, but some I will get many more than 1 pack.
Like what is in the pack or not, I do want them all.

The more things on the forums change, the more they stay the same. But 100% inspired to build some Thuggee units after your WH post.

On the off chance anyone was (still) interested in the Empires Aflame setting, the Terran Supremacy is noted as making use of the Celestial OmniMech designs (with "regular" human pilots) in that alternate timeline.

Plus, certain Word of Blake Militia units, such as the Toyama, appear in the TSDF also (for whom that 'Mech is known instead as the Odysseus),

So, if anyone wanted to take a side-step (or Misjump) to the other side of the mirror, they'd be able to paint up a Celestial box set and a would-be WoBM set in... whatever colour scheme would suit the Terran Supremacy Defense Forces.

Since Empires Aflame is basically just "What if the SLDF didn't go on the Exodus?" I'd assume that the TSDF would just use the standard drab green that the SLDF used.

I never considered that… I mean I personally am bad at painting and everything I have is still factory plastic grey or metal… but that’s a cool idea

I felt a little bad that the B&N employee had to go fishing for it in the stock room, but my impulse to acquire a shiny new thing was pretty strong when I saw it listed as available in-store.
As a counter point to this, B&N was showing STRONG in Charlottesville this morning.  I walked out with the Encounters box and the Alpha Strike counter set.

Meanwhile, the owner of the local comic book store is struggling to find Battletech products to stock.  He's rather annoyed, since Beginner and AGOAC boxes have been great sellers for him.

I think what struck me this morning was seeing the box sets, multiple systems, miniature boxes, and paint sets grouped together on a center facing end cap.  I'd seen tight Battletech displays before, but this really showed a retailer caring about the product.  It was nice to see.  I hope it bodes well for the future of the game.

I remember seeing TROs there in the 90s (it was where I first saw TRO 3058), but other than that, definitely not.

Seems like I've seen a few of the BattleCorps Anthologies there, and a few SR novels.  They also had the SR rulebooks, but I hadn't seen anything from CGL other than Dragonfire for a decade or so.

Until a couple years back, with the Lance Packs of course!

We're still working on our local FLGS to stock BattleTech here in Santa Rosa.  Luckily, both B&N and Target have nice displays.

Keeping the FLGS alive is important.  When you lose that, you run the risk of losing the whole RL public facing of the product should the corporate interests decide to drop the product.  And we all know how corporations can make fickle decisions based on projections that may or may not be entirely accurate.

There are four FLGS I go to in my area (Game Chest with two locations, Collector's Legion, Lost Planet and Game Hub) and of them, two of them carry BattleTech. Both Lost Planet and the two Game Chests have sections for BattleTech.

In fact the Game Chest has an every-other-Sunday game day for BattleTech (we swap Sundays with Warhammer, and they leave behind skulls and blood... you'd think they'd be more careful in constructing those thrones for Khorne ) Both I and another player gave the manager BattleTech posters he's getting framed and going to hang up in the gaming space.
