The Clan Invasion resulted in a (not quite) Cambrian explosion of 'Mech designs, as the 'Mech manufacturers and techs tried to find ways to defeat the Clans' seemingly unstoppable OmniMechs, or, alternatively, tried to get a share of the Successor States' almost limitless military budget. This fortnight, we look at two heavy 'Mechs born in this period, the
Bandersnatch and
Rakshasa. The
Bandersnatch is a 75-ton brawler that was marketed toward mercenaries and, for some reason, reminds me of the
Hercules. The
Rakshasa is the NAIS attempt to reproduce the
Mad Cat with cutting edge Inner Sphere tech at the time and does a decent job. To learn how to use these in game, see Diplominator's
'Mech of the Week article for the Bandersnatch and Kotetsu's
'Mech of the Week article for the Rakshasa.
The
Bandersnatch has had two sculpts:
The
Rakshasa only has
a single sculpt (20-638).
If you have any of these painted, please share pictures. We'd love to see them!
Our next two fortnights will be:
- 6/10: The late Jihad sequels: Pack Hunter II, Dasher II, and Shadow Cat II
- 6/24: Hercules and Tempest
