Refit level of the CGR-1A5
« on: 02 June 2024, 02:12:36 »
The CGR-1A5 is said to be a variant made from the CGR-1L they received as part of the Kapteyn Accords.

What would be the refit level needed to do so? And where would they do it?

My guess is they would need a factory but I am not sure and I don't see who could do it.
In turn they tested each Clan namesake
In trial against the ice hellion's mettle.
Each chased the ice hellion, hunting it down.
All faild to match the predator's speed and grace.
Khan Cage smiled and said. "And that is how we shall be."

The engine change would normally mean a Class E refit, requiring a factory (Campaign Operations, page 212).  But the Refit Kit section on that same page specifically says:
Quote
Lastly, a refit kit that includes an engine drops the class for engine work from E to D.
Class D refits can be done at a Maintenance Facility instead of a Factory.

So the answer to your question comes down to how much credit you want to give the Capellans.  Personally, I'd say they developed a Refit Kit to speed up the conversions.

And they have at least one factory producing 320 Fusion Engine for the Victor. They could make some refit kits.

I thought that was Changing Engine TYPE, I swore just changing Engine Rating was like, class C/D.
That said, if the GYRO got changed it was still E+.

Either way it makes sense that some company does Refit Kits but also I think its an easy enough "custom" work that you can just do it in a DS Bay.

The current language in CampOps (page 212) is:
Quote
Changing engine type and/or rating (unless done via a refit kit; see below).
It may have been errata incorporated when they moved those rules to CampOps from StratOps.

Gotcha, Thanks, that might be the only example of something getting HARDER when they incorporated all the Errata from the original SO refit levels.

It's also the only example I see of a Refit Kit dropping a level too... that may have been the compromise.

Yeah, shows you how bad my memory is getting, I swore the Refit Kit was a blanket drop in level but its just for Engines, not stuff like TSM & Endo, which is a bummer.
