How can I tell how old a sculpt is?
« on: 31 July 2024, 18:53:22 »
I'm thinking about dipping my toes back into painting metal models again. I've not really messed with any metal figures since I was painting my ultra-smurfs for 5th edition 40K. I like the look of some of the models and I was assured that the newer sculpts are very close, if not the exact same scale as the CGL plastics. So my question is how do I tell the newer sculpts from the older ones on the IWM website? I know some of them look identical to their plastic counterpart, but I'm looking for models that haven't been released in plastic yet. I'd like a Mad Cat 2 and 3, or some of the winged Jade Falcon mechs. Can someone enlighten me, please?

Look at the image on the IWM site, if the copyright date on it is 2009 or later then that is the year the mini was released. Anything 2012 or later will be extremely close to the scale of Catalyst's current plastic mechs.

Just send a message on the contact form on IWM website and ask. Just have the SKU you are asking about in the message.

If you ask here in the Mini section people will also post pictures- you can also check out the 'Mini of the Fortnight' where people often post pictures of the various versions side by side.
