Marik Militia Battle Lance

Hello All!  Finished sealing some medium mechs for my generic Marik Militia.  We have a new puppy, so with the three kids and work I'm still focusing on 'table ready' quality work.  Method for this batch was the usual:  wash and prime, contrast paint, highlights and metallics, stripes, and basing.  Really focusing on keeping things simple so I actually get a few things finished.

Looking forward to finishing the Recon lance and starting up some of the Mercs minis that will slot in well:  Hermes II, Cicada, Quickdraw, Ostroc and Ostsol.  Cheers all.

That purple is so dark it looks black.

Is it actually that dark in person or is it the lighting/camera?

Either way the mechs look awesome, just thought it was very dark.

It is that dark in person.  Long story short, started out as an accident, posted it, people liked it.  I realized while it isn't a traditional take on Marik Militia, it can be my take on it, and it has really grown on me.

Looking really good, there, MadD, and even without the Grapes of Wrath scheme people would be saying "Isn't that a Marik-looking lance?"

By the way, Worktroll:  I used your advice and blended a little bronze and silver on the cockpits instead of using the gemstone red on my Marik Militia assault lance.  You had suggested that the red cockpits were clashing with the red in the striping.

You were right.  I'm not totally sold on the bronzy/silver cockpits, but they don't clash.  Thanks for the criticism!

Glad to help! Metallic green, or outright bronze, would also work.

The basic purple is what gets me away from Marik in the first place, so I think yours looks awesome. Well done!

I agree with this and think the scheme should overall looks sharp and sweet. However, the darkness of the purple doesn’t scream Marik, but at the same time, it’s obvious it’s Marik lance from the piping. Almost like it’s a special unit of some sort. I think the bronze cockpits work pretty well, too.

Thanks for the kind words!  Between filling out this unit and a Davion Guards formation, I’ve lost all fear of striping and highlights.  They used to fill my with dread, and now I’ve learned to just not worry about it.
