aerospace flight standsH

Hello all, I bought three ships and the flight stand is too short for my taste. I was wondering what everyone would recommend I use to make a taller flight stand. I was thinking a wooden dowel rod as I am sure I could get one at the local hardware store, but I thought I'd I'd ask here to see what the pros use. Thanks for any help.

For my non-Battletech ships, my current preference is to use brass tubing. It's a bit complex, but a bit of brass rod drilled directly into the ship and base, square brass tubing over the rod, and a slightly larger square tube over the base only leaves you with a very strong steam that you can make any length you want, and the ship easily slides right off the base when in storage or transport, while staying secure on the base during play or display.

Interesting idea there Weirdo,  so I take it you have less stands than actual minis & you can rotate them based on what your playing with ?     Or am I reading that wrong.

Exactly. I do like to have as many bases as I do ships, but the removable part makes it really easy to transport them to and form a game.

Hello all, Thank you very much for the replies. I have found my solution. Nails. The idea hit me they other day while working my second job. A guy bought a pack of nails and I thought why not try that. Well I did. Probably not the best idea, but it's a cheap solution and that's what I needed. I hope to post some pictures in the future.

Brass tubing is fine, so is the wooden rods at a hobby shop.  Personally I use bamboo skewers from time to time.

May favorite part of brass tubing is that if you use the square stuff, there's no chance of the mini spinning around on the base.
