Surrendering single units
« on: 17 January 2022, 16:24:19 »
Is there a way to surrender a unit without surrendering the entire side? There are several times where part of a force in battle would not fight to then end but other contingents may be going to fight it out.

Haven't tested it live, trying to remember to do so when it next comes up, but try using the "traitor" option to cause the unit to change sides.  One of the things that needs to be considered is how this affects scenario resolution regarding "Force x% to withdraw", and whether it will skip over that unit.

Something related that I do regularly is when conditions change (e.g. OpFor drops below 50%, commander is dropped) I kick the relevant bot(s) and use the "Replace Player" with different settings.
Think about it.  It's what we do.

Kicking bots is brilliant and I only ever think of it when they hang - not to change controls.

Credit for that idea goes to one of the other regulars.

As of the most recent dev release, there's also an botName: ignoreUnit: [unitID] command which will cause a particular bot to not fire on the unit with the specified ID.

It works! Though I never doubted you.
/who
[botName]:ignoreUnit: [unitId]

botName - must be spelled precisely as listed so running a who is good idea.
ignoreUnit - the command has a little I and a capital U
unitId - is entered as ## with no other information

ignoreUnit doesn't show up in the /help list and isn't preceded by a /

Still think this is awesome. It would be amazing on a right click menu.
