The latest in my quest to complete a company of mechs every two months. I'm behind schedule, but these are done.

1. Shadow Hawk, Griffin, Grasshopper, Thunderbolt 5SE
2. Hatchetman, Blackjack, Trebuchet, Enforcer
3. Locust, Wasp, Valkyrie, Panther

Looks great, like the basing too.

I see you've encountered how hard it is to decal the Hatchetman.....all those tiny panels are a PITA!

Yeah, I had to choose between a tiny decal or a larger, legible one in an odd place.

More detail on the Thunderbolt 5SE. The LRMs were filled in a re-drilled to create the 10-pack. The SRMs and MGs were chopped off. The jump pack is out of my bin of bits, but I don't remember what mini it's from.

Basing:

Add texture with texture paste. (Normally do this after priming but before painting. I was in a hurry and forgot, as I was in full airbrush mode that day.)
Paint texture dark green. (You can skip this if you used green texture paste.)
Add dark green wash.
Drybrush with a lighter green.

Basing, continued:

5. Cover some of the base with mud.
6. Paint the sides of the hex base. I like to have a slightly different color marking the front hex.
7. Add one or two small bushes. (not shown -- see finished pics above)

When Vallejo calls it "Thick Mud" they aren't kidding. Great for footprints!

Thanks. I try to always choose canopy colors that contrast. Realism be damned, I want my colors to pop!

It's possible to make your own with fine sand and thick acrylic, but I'm at a point in my life where I'd rather pay someone a few bucks to do it for me.
One caution: Make sure you clean the threads and put the top on tightly after use, or it'll dry out.

It’s the "reseen" sculpt from Iron Wind Metals. I normally mix & match, but with this group being 11/12 plastic it does stand out a bit.

So I just noticed the Wasp has the 4 antenna--did you drill and place them? If so, what did you use?

Yes. They're toothbrush bristles. The Griffin has a couple, too, they're just not very visible from that angle.

The main trick is to use the full bristle, both to make it easier to hold and so that you don't have to worry about drilling the holes the same depth. Drill, glue, then trim to length.

Different lighting. The greens are definitely too bright under my workbench lighting, but that's so there's good contrast on the average tabletop.

Thank you for walking through the basing steps. I have only used the pumice basing texture haven't tired the thick mud. Really like the effect you got with that.

Fantastic work overall. I love the effect on the panels. Looks very realistic. As a suggestion, I would add dark red/purple on the shadows. Just a glaze. Since it is a complementary color, it gives you a lot more contrast with little work. Also, it adds even more tonal variety and the miniatures would pop a lot more, especially in those monochrome schemes.

Here is an example. If you look at the shadows, there is wine red glazed.
