Miniatures of the Fortnight #130: Annihilator and Imp
« on: 20 January 2022, 21:50:07 »
This fortnight, we look at two more 'Mechs reintroduced to the Inner Sphere by Wolf's Dragoons.  While the Annihilator and Imp saw combat in Operation Klondike, they were barely known in the Inner Sphere before the Dragoons returned.  (In fact, the Imp was never built in the Inner Sphere.)  Including these was clearly a mistake - but it's too late now.  Instead, we get to play with these walking turrets.  To learn more about using them game, see their 'Mech of the Week articles (Annihilator and Imp).

Like many 'Mechs, each of these only have a single sculpt in metal:The Annihilator also has a plastic sculpt released by CGL as part of the Wolf's Dragoons Assault Star ForcePack.

If you any of these painted, please share pictures.  We'd love to see them!

Our next two fortnights will be:
  • 1/31: Pinion and Spirit
  • 2/14: Flea and Hornet

Yup, there's no unseeing that.  I still chuckle every time I see it.

For myself, one Annihilator (IWM) and one Imp, both in Wolf's Dragoons Gamma Regiment colors.

Now that was funny..  I wonder, what other mechs would make for good "minions"..

Urbanmech?

Back to topic.
Annihilator and Imp done as part of Wolf's Dragoons Alpha regiment.
Both of mine are IWM models.
Imp has been slightly modified (laser arm).

Annihilators 2A, 1G and Gausszilla.  Haven't painted any of the new WD pack ones yet, but I do have them, and planned schemes.

What did you use, to make it look like it was shooting?

That is an Armorcast Cinematic Effect. From what I can tell the Short Pistol Controlled Burst.

https://armorcast.com/acfx026-pistol-short-controlled-bursts-10pcs/

Most of what they make would be far too large for the Btech scale, but the smaller stuff works well. It is all stuff you could make with putty but it really is inexpensive and a time save if you want to add those kinds of details.
