This fortnight, we look at two medium 'Mechs featured in Technical Readout: 3050. One of them, the Assassin, has been with us for a lot longer, going back to Technical Readout: 3025. (I'm not sure how I missed it earlier.) The other first appeared in Technical Readout: 3050, the Wolf Trap (or, originally, the Tora, but not for very long). I haven't used either very much, so I refer you to their 'Mech of the Week articles (Assassin and Wolf Trap (Alpha Strike)).

The Assassin has had three sculpts:
  • The original sculpt (20-875). (I'm not completely sure this link is for the original sculpt.)
  • The resculpt (20-875), also available in a beginners set version with an integral base (Recon Lance Pack, 10-039)
  • The plastic sculpt, based on the resculpt, seen in previous versions of the BattleTech boxed set
The Wolf Trap only has one sculpt (20-811).

If you have any of these painted, please share pictures. We'd love to see them!

In the next few fortnights, I'm going to cover the remaining Unseen 'Mechs, starting with the Rifleman and Valkyrie. (I originally planned to post these about six months after Kickstarter fulfillment completed, and I think it's been longer than that.) After that, I'll resume the Inner Sphere/Clan rotation.

Our next two fortnights will be:
  • 7/11:  Rifleman
  • 7/25:  Valkyrie

One of each.
The Assassin is the resculpted -101, painted as part of the 41. Avalon Hussars. And yes, now i know this is not the assumed place of the cockpit, but it was painted according to the old TRO picture suggesting to be there...  :-[

One of the first lances I painted after I got back into it forever ago was a Sword of Light, and hey, I heard the DCMS likes their Wolf Traps.

That was one of my originally painted mechs too..  That big gun arm, was easy to paint, but the first few times i glued it on, it came off..  so i had to grind the arm hole with a dremmel to get the glue and arm to stick..
It's not who you kill, but how they die!
You can't shoot what you can't see.
You can not dodge it if you don't know it's coming.

Here's assassins from Kurita Ryuken-ni and Comstar. The reflection on the Ryuken ASN looks good at tabletop distances...
