Miniatures for the Fortnight #121: Hellion, Icestorm, and Snow Fox

This fortnight, we're looking at the light 'Mechs of Clan Ice Hellion.  That's right, we're looking at the Hellion, Icestorm, and Snow Fox!  (I wonder how many people have used the Snow Fox or Icestorm.)  Quick and light, these (might) cause problems for your opponents.  Or so I hope.  If you'd like to learn how to use them in game, see their 'Mech of the Week articles, at least for the Hellion and Icestorm.  (The Snow Fox doesn't have an article.  My best guess is: Use it like a Locust.)

The Hellion, the real star of this fortnight, has three sculpts:

• The metal sculpt for the Hellion Prime (20-976)
• The BattleForce-scale sculpt (20-9112)
• The new sculpt in Wave 2 of the BattleTech: Clan Invasion kickstarter

The Icestorm has only had a single sculpt (20-273).  And the Snow Fox has also only had a single sculpt (20-651).

One of each...

Hellion pewter mini, painted as member of clan Ghost Bear's Alpha galaxy.
Something went wrong during assembly, tried to fix it with an adapted base.

Added some fine tubing and rods to resemble the armactuators.

Finally two Snow Foxes, one really old paint job and another which was a birthday present.
The old one is a Hell's Horses Zeta galaxy member,
The other is a Jade Falcon Mu galaxy unit.

Hey! I just realized my snow fox doesn't have those antennae! ... doubtful if I can find them now (years later) (not worth ordering at this time imo)

right ... awesome paint jobs, I'd like to see a (minor) re-sculpt on the Icestorm/Cameron. 



[edit: You know ... I may have had them at one point, and I keep reading how easily they fall off.  Moved a few years ago and my memory keeps saying they look awfully familiar.  Probably did fall off.  Now where'd I put my (very small) random bits box]

These antennas are highly prone to breakage as the bottom link is very thin. I had to fix both on the birthday giveaway and one on my own miniature.
If you still have the antenna poles, you can pin them in place with very thin wire (e.g. those antenna wire RP used to put into older blisters).

I think this antenna module is the same as on the Patriot (TRO 3075; IWM 20-498), so if you can find those as replacement you can mount them on a Snow Fox as well.

The only finished one I have is an Hellion in his namesake's Clan colors. I also lost the antennas on my Snow Fox three times and I don't bother with them anymore.

I adore the Hellion and am eager for the Kickstarter version. A larger scale version was also made for the Mechwarrior Dark Age/Age of Destruction game.
