Notes:
Trailer Hitch
Pintle Mount

Minimum crew is 2. A driver, and a lad outside manning the machine gun.
3 seats, 2 on the inside. 1 outside. The outside one is "inside" the "turret"

Used the August 1983 redesign of the Toyota Hilux to set the weight.

I honestly don't know what else to say about it. It's a truck with a machine gun bolted to the back. There's a lad tying to operate it.

I can totally see something like this being banged out on planets that aren't exactly backwater, but also don't have any major industries.

Small support vehicles don't use full-blown armored turrets. They use pintle mounts instead. The upside is that it doesn't count as a location, so you don't have to armor it. The downside is that it only has a 180 degree firing arc. But, now you can armor the rear or have it survive two SRMs to the front.

Also, you don't need to include any ammo in the turret. The first 75 shots (well, 15 bursts) are free, and the pintle mount doesn't actually hold ammo. That's all in the body.

What tech level are you using for the body? Your armor and engine seem to be D, but the chassis should then be 153 kg and I don't get 320 kg for the cargo.

My hat is off to the name of your T&T system, by the way. Truth in advertising at its finest.

With only 6 points of armor possible over the whole vehicle, you certainly don't need BAR 7 armor.  That could save you some weight.

Assaultdoor is correct about not needing a turret.  Putting that on a Hilux would make it more of an armored car, really.  Personally, I'd go for the Pintle Mount, a Support Machine Gun (Ma Deuce in my head canon at least), and as much engine and cargo as you can get at as low a TL as possible (probably C, but possibly B).

Megamek doesn't really have a way to model pintle mounts on truck beds so I just went with turret, and I decided that a gun shield would probably count as turret armor or something. Of course, taking that gun shield and slapping it on the front or back is also something people might do.

Megamek put the ammo there. I assume it's probably modeling the ammo already loaded in the gun and the ammo in the body is reloads.

The setting I put in Megamek is D for everything. I'm not really questioning it all that much.

At the very least, 6 points of BAR 3 armor at TL D would only weigh 114 kg vice 270.  That's a bit more cargo for the truck...

You can get a pintle mount on the front or rear in MML if you check the box for a pintle turret on either the left or right side in the main Structure tab, and then go to Assign Criticals and move it. You have to go through this b little process ecause somebody misread the rules, and it's only been a few months since we got an official clarification in the rules forum.

I'm  not sure if it works at all in MegaMek itself, but surely at some point the MM team will get it fixed.

Oh, right. MML includes seats as part of the chassis mass. I still can't make the numbers you posted add up to 1,270, though.

Found the issue. Megameklab doesn't model the ammunition for small vehicles so I need to subtract it manually.

Also apparently that little workaround actually does work so I've managed to put the pintle mount in the truck bed.

Here's the hilux with a tow missile.

The cost difference between those two is so hilariously high, I have to wonder if MML shifted a decimal point on you...

Nope. The TOW missile launcher really does cost 800,000 bills. :P

Now I'm thinking the AToW Companion has a decimal place issue.  The Vintage Gatling Gun right above it is 450,000 C-Bills.

(Decimal) shift happens at various places in the rule books. E.g. according to TO:AUE INFANTRY CONSTRUCTION DATA table, p. 225, motorized SCUBA gear weighs 100 grams(!) per Trooper, and a Microlite or Microcopter VTOL is just 1.4 or 1.9 kilograms per Trooper...

In my (old one-volume) copy of TacOps, that whole table is in tons but the label says kg. I hadn't noticed that before.

the "vintage" means "collector's item" or "antique"

or something. Maybe.

Also I went back and edited the original technical. The stats are corrected, and I replaced the Portable machine gun with semi-portable because I think that actually makes a bit more sense.

Hmmm...

Well I suppose the question is will it still start after 8 hours in the English Channel, being left on top of a tall building demolished under it, or being hit by a wrecking ball?

For those who don't get the reference:
Part 1
Part 2
Part 3

What they did to that truck and it still started with nothing more than some elbow grease and hand tools....

Also, only combat vehicles get free trailer hitches. It's a chassis mod for support vehicles. I hadn't noticed before that MegaMekLab allows it. That's a bug.

I remade this with all tech B, with BAR3 armor since the front has 3 armor.  It all fits with a support machine gun, still going 8/12, you just lose the cargo--which is a good thing.  The Hilux weighs 1.3 tons WITHOUT cargo, right?  With cargo (carried externally, in say a pickup bed) you move slower but can haul a bunch and the cargo can be hit outside the protected cab.  Cargo in btech is inside the armored area, so internal cargo on a Hilux would have to be in an armored shell over the flatbed.
