Horse-Mounted Infantry

Following up with an earlier thread in the AS forum, here is what I came up with for a Horse-mounted Infantry platoon to represent the tribal-type horseman found on Astrokaszy as written in Double-Blind, but supplied with auto-rifles. (Think Rambo III or 12 Strong.) I make no promises that any of my math is correct as this was my first try creating, but I did my best.

21 troops/horse per platoon
  All equipped with Auto-Rifles
  Clothing, Non-armored/Fatigues (Same protection as Periphery Armor Kits, so why not?)
  Anti-Mech

TW and AS cards attached. BV and PV as calculated.

Periphey Armor Kits (from AToW, page 294) give 10 points of combined BAR to the torso, meaning an Armor Divisor of one.  Truly unarmored infantry (a total of less than 5 (i.e., 4 or less) on the torso is "unarmored") provide a DAMAGE modifier of 2... Original Dragoons would be in the latter category...  ^-^

don't forget, there's Beast-mounted infantry SPAs if you want to make some Elite troopers... :-)

Unicorns should be genetically easy to get if you go nuts in genetic engineering. They are just a horse with a horn. The BT universe has dinosaurs, dragons, and combat kangaroos in Coventry, so no problem with unicorns at all.

Fastest speed over a quarter mile ~44mph/70 kph, fastest absolute speed recorded ~55mph/89kph, both values are for an America Quarter Horse bred for top speed over short distances. Horses in general just can't maintain the fast gallop for more than 3 or 4 kilometers before they need to slow down or even rest, so over long(ish) distances, the cyclists will win. Most races are for less than 3km.
Professional bike riders can maintain an average of 40-50 kph for several hours (average leg of 140 to 240 km), with top sprint speeds at the end beyond 70 kph. And they repeat that daily for several weeks.

There were slender long-legged species of rhinocerous in the past, they're just extinct now.  No reason you couldn't mess with rhino genomes and get a more slender, faster rhino.  Also remember that unicorns were supposed to have cloven hooves, they weren't horses at all!  Modify a large goat species, and then they won't just have a cool horn they'll also be less picky eaters and less likely to injure their legs.
