The two extremes of fighter size:

Su-30 MKI
Length: 21.935 m (72 ft 0 in)
Wingspan: 14.7 m (48 ft 3 in)

Tejas Mk 1
Length: 13.2 m (43 ft 4 in)
Wingspan: 8.2 m (26 ft 11 in)

Things aren't always bigger in Tejas.  :D

I do have a warm place in my heart for the overall Looks of the Sukhoi Su-30.  It's just a beautiful airframe.

I take it that both of the smaller ones could carry the requisite AAMs to shoot down the larger ones? ???

Kind of? The F-5E originally had no BVR capability. Hell, I'm not sure it had all-weather capability. The original radar had a published range of 10 nmi (no indication of target size) and was more for the radar gunsight and cuing the Sidewinders.

Singapore's F-5s supposedly have AMRAAM capability, but with the limitations imposed by that tiny radome no matter how upgraded, I'm not entirely sure that's enough to provide BVR capability since the AMRAAM's onboard radar is there only for terminal guidance.

Tejas hasn't been qualified on any BVRAAMs yet, and I'm still fuzzy as to whether they've actually reached operational status yet.

Besides, a WW2 SMG platoon has the weapons to kill a modern infantry squad. The probabilities of success and expected losses are a different question than if it's possible...

From the side, I think Flankers look better as two-seaters. The single-seaters just have an odd humpbacked look to the spine behind the cockpit.

Not sure if this an actual picture of some computer-generated image. But it is beautiful nevertheless.

From this story:

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/let-s-talk-about-the-rumors-that-russia-s-su-57-is-participating-in-the-war-in-ukraine/ar-AAXwW5V?ocid=msedgntp&cvid=5178ec923f43494aaebc685e7ded0971

I doubt they are being used in/over/around Ukraine, but it's always possible. Imagine if one goes down, though. That would be hard to hide...
Thought I might get a rocket ride when I was a child.          We are the wild youth,
But it was a lie, that I told myself                                          Chasing visions of our futures.
When I needed something good.                                            One day we'll reveal the truth,
At 17, I had a better dream; now I'm 33, and it isn't me.        That one will die before he gets there.

But I'd think of something better if I could

That's an actual picture, no CGI.

Interesting that the whole article is on MSN instead of over at the source on The War Zone https://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/lets-talk-about-the-rumors-that-russias-su-57-is-participating-in-the-war-in-ukraine

TWZ is a pretty good source for military news and analysis, it's where I went to check and see if this was a legit image.

when they first unveiled the Su-57, they were taking pictures of it on the ground, then photoshopping it onto background to make it look like it was in flight. i suspect that this is what is going on here. would explain the close up angle.. which would be hard to get in flight.

I just had to share this for Thunder Over Dover Airshow

Apocryphally, CFB Comox apparently got noise complaints.

"Is it the small pointy jets?" (Hornets).
"No"
"Is it the big propeller planes?" (CP-140 Orions or C-130s)
"No"
"Can you describe the planes making the noise?"
"They're small and yellow with long wings"

Yes, and that's the joke. Or the complainants were very confused  :D

There were pictures and videos supposedly taken in Ukraine, but I really don't have the time to search through mass of Telegram posts to look for them.

As for this picture, the most common way to take picture at this angle a stabilized camera on the loading ramp of cargo aircraft, most likely Il-76.

The image is courtesy of Creative Commons, there's no further attribution. There's several things that look off to me, if it's a camera from the back of an aircraft, then the terrain beneath it is way too crisp. The aircraft is the point of focus, you might get some nicely focused terrain around the aircraft, although I wouldn't bet on it, but the terrain to the far right is just as sharp as the aircraft and that's not supposed to happen.

That's my thoughts, happy to be proven wrong, IMINT isn't my specialty (yet anyway, I am hoping for a change in careers...)

Also there are no disturbances visible around the exhaust gases. I assume it's a montage of two photos, aircraft probably shot on the ground plus terrain.

There's a new business jet that just got unveiled, the Bombardier Global 8000.  Supposed to have a range of 8000 nautical miles and a top speed of mach 0.94.  Apparently hit mach 1.015 in a recent test.

The Globals all are. I think the current 8000 is a 7500 that trades cabin space for fuel.
I do like the look a bit better than the Gulfstreams.

that is a great looking jet. Very expensive at over 80million a plane, but the 8000 mile range is awesome. Pretty much anywhere in the world that plane can go.  Has a bigger footprint than the Airbus 319, and 737-7

Set a record for long range flight with a flight from my home town of Detroit to Sydney 9483 miles.
