In a non-B-Tech Game I've got a character who needs a ribbon rack put together, he is a Space Merchant but is in the Reserves for the Space Navy, a few game years back he was called up for a War, started the war as a Lt. J.G. Cargo Officer on a small supply ship, over two and a bit years he worked his way up to Lt. S.G. and First Officer on the supply ship before transferring to a Escort Cruiser as the Supply Officer and eventually ended up as the Deputy Helm Officer (still a Lt. S.G. and the ships 4th or 5th officer).
I know Medals go above Ribbons, so his 2nd (or 3rd) row will be his Ribbons, but what order to put them in, he has three Combat Service Ribbons awarded for participating in major combat actions, the National Defense Ribbon for wartime combat service in the Domestic Theater of Operations and the National Service Ribbon that you get for doing your time, getting good fit reps and no disciplinary issues, so it's more than just good conduct. he may also have a Cadets/ROTC Ribbon since he started in the Navy Cadets at age 7 and kept with in till he entered the NROTC at the Merchants Academy/College.
for his Medals that will go on his top row(s) he has the War Service Medal (w/Years of Service Clasp), the 2nd grade Bravery/Gallantry/Valor Medal and the 3rd grade Meritorious/Distinguished Service Medal (w/War Service Clasp). would his War Service Medal go before or after his other Medals? (UK & Commonwealth it goes last) dose Merit or Valor take precedence or dose the higher grade of medal have precedence? he may have campaign/Theater of Operations Medals as well.
I ask because the US gives precedence to higher Grades with Valor going before Merit in a given grade, where the UK & Commonwealth gives preference to Bravery/Gallantry/Valor (in order of grade) then Meritorious/Distinguished Service and War/Campaign Medals before other Medals. the Game gives no guidance beyond that you record in order of grade for each classification of Medal and those decorations without a given grade just get dumped together in no order on their own list. given a choice in the past the GM usually prefers doing things the American way, but from time to time he dose things the UK way.
