I...
feel like this should be an April fools fan made or something... but...
it's real, and... cautiously optimistic here. It looks interesting.

Cool, but I’d be more comfortable with it if more films involving Native American/First Peoples were actually about Native Americans/First Peoples, not space aliens, cowboys, US cavalrymen dancing with wolves, etc.

I'd seen the preview before, but never had noticed the "Only on Hulu" bit before.   :flame: :flame:

No kidding.  This looks like it might be a fairly decent entry into the Predator franchise, but a film about a young Comanche becoming a hunter in the 17th Century ought to be interesting enough on its own without needing to add in a monster from another planet.

I agree with the others. Seems interesting, but why would a super high tech Predator want to go up against primitive prey like that? Is he some sort of a rookie and wants to use easy mode or something?

If I was ever in charge of the franchise I'd make it about a Predator who gets stripped of his equipment and is forced to fight against high tech humans for a change.

You should all track down the book Aliens vs Predators. Oh why, oh why, did they not just film that, instead of stealing a few scenes?

If you notice, this Predator is using lower-tech gear that we've seen in most movies: they've got a spear launcher instead of the typical plasma cannon, and their cloaking ability seems to be more like a ghillie suit than the advanced optical system typically seen.  Either the Predators themselves have lower tech in this time or they deliberately use lower tech equipment due to Earth's lower tech level.  Predator 2 established that they've been coming to Earth for centuries.

On the plus side, it's nice that everyone portrayed as American Indian is actually American Indian.
There's apparently a Comanche dub and subtitles too, which is nice.

As for Equipment. Predators are essentially big game hunters. Sure they want a bit of a challenge, but I suspect we're still talking around the danger level of someone who goes bear hunting.

Predators want to display their skill and they respect displays of skill and ingenuity by their prey.  They're sort of like the Clans in that they generally seem to try to handicap themselves to earn more impressive victories.  And as seen in previous movies, they don't bother going after prey that's sick, pregnant, a child, or unarmed.  And if their prey is a human who's only armed with a machete they don't typically use a ranged weapon on him.

I saw fan made film of the Predator in a Medieval Crusade time . It wasn't bad I like it. This one kind of remind  me of it. Predator 2 started showing the the Predator how he hunt and the their rule of the hunt which someone posted above. The end of Predator 2 when ( :bang: I can't remember that Black actor name. I hate having a brain fart when come actor names.) he kill the Predator and the other Predator show themselves to take the body of the Predator. The old Predator gave prey who kill the other Predator a flintlock pistol from 1500 or 1600 time.

YW, also Silverado, one of my personal favorites.  But I figured Roger Murtaugh of Lethal Weapon might be the most recognizable from all the sequels.

Predator was a great film, produced on a string budget, but nailing it really well. Good appropriate actors, great soundtrack, part of that batch of low-budget sci fi films around then that were terrific - Alien, Terminator, Robocop.

Predator 2 was produced on a much bigger budget. The soundtrack is lush, and shows the added production values. It ended up a good movie, but alas not as great as the first. I still watch it too.

Aliens vs Predator? Hot mess with even more money. If only they'd used the book ...

Predator may not have been as great if they had gone with the original insectoid version.

All Fox needed was, Aliens, Colonial-Marines and Predators: plot:  they kill each other.

Directed by James Cameron and the movie(s) would have been a success.

Great, so now we have Prey (1998), Prey (2017), and Prey (2022).
Also, good or not, that "only on Hulu bit" feels like a modern day "coming exclusively to a video rental store near you".

Me and my wife both quite liked Prey.

I mean, the only thing that annoyed me was the Predator face design, and if something thar minor is the biggest problem...

P.s. for the ending: asume Predator helmet is auto-tracking all potential targets in the visual field of the helmet, and then it makes sense. No need for precise manual targetting.

Interesting since I feel the same about cable and network television.  I only watch streaming services. Had it up to my eyeballs with cable years ago.

Though most of these movies will end up on DVD eventually just like a theatrical release.
