My father grew up keeping score to to the Dodgers with Vin as far back as when they were in Brooklyn. When the family moved to the LA area, he kept with the team during the Sandy Koufax years. I was raised a Dodger even if I never lived in CA, but I did get to see Orel Hershiser pitch the 88 World Series (and Kirk Gibson!) and watched Fernando Valenzuela pitch a no hitter against the Cardinals, all to the dulcet tones of Vin Scully.

The man could enchant an audience by saying absolutely nothing, letting the voice of the stadium have its rein. Be learned from the best, Red Barber. With his skills he could turn almost anything charming. One time a fan asked him to read aloud his grocery list: https://youtu.be/AiUPlTRUY_Y

Rest in peace Vin. You were the best damn sportscaster ever.
