With regards to the pricing/value, I'm wondering how they are going to "balance" Lance/Star ForcePacks
and Battlefield Support (vees) ForcePacks on the KS pledge/reward level.

1 reward = 1 ForcePack would enable one to choose only Battlefield Support packs and getting more value
(read : plastic crack) as opposed to someone picking Lance/Star ForcePacks..

Fan Fiction / Re: What Could Go Wrong

Depending on how the bays are mounted on a recharge station, could they turn them into a full on shipyard?

A old SLDF catch always makes for a good underground section for a military base, I feel.
Seems they are back to that derlict Olympus.
*much grumbling*

Bonus is that a mining system is nearby as well and they have a in.
So in theory, Hanse might be able to gain two black sites.
Fun, that could mean they would need three bases, at the minimum, especially if the mining company is also the future cover for bringing things in & out.

I uzse my phone as a hotspot to connect when off from home. I have no idea if it is safe, but I know thast a friend of mine that works in the security industry set up a hotspot in the Madrid airport that read "free airport wifi" and he got the username and password for bank account, emails and other services from around 500 people in less than 10 minutes. He sent his report to the police afterwards (he was working as a consultant for them at the time).
So yeah, free wifis are not very safe...

This thread got significantly more important if tou are looking to move over into the Dark Age or late Republic where the Inner Sphere logistical train starts having limited amounts out of tge factory for many units with only Republic Super Heavy mechs getting 100 percent Clan tech or close to it .

Found the reference I was trying to recall earlier. In the Clan Wolf Sourcebook.

During the 4th wave of the Clan Invasion, in October 3050. Skokie was expected to be an easy conquest and the two planetary militia regiments fled instead of fight the Clan Wolf assault and were eventually subdued with few losses on either side.

But a local variant of meningitis, named the Skokie Shivers for the shaking the victims suffer, struck two thirds of the Clan Force. Forcing their quarantine until they recovered and effectively removing them from the front lines of the invasion.

Maybe they have them but can't use them because they're not authorized to use the command keys?

Possible. Or most were used up in the holocaust. It's up to whoever runs your Syberian AutoMech campaigns.

Would that include the prototype Clan Tech? The stuff that's not quite as good as IS 3060 tech.

No.

That's cool. I just wondered about them as a failed experiment. ATAC drone systems would be cool but the flowcharts drive me buggy too. :) Yeah, that's not something I'd do. I was thinking more on beast mechs to help them blend in.

All props given to the writer who came up with the flowcharts as a way to characterize the AIs AS AIs, but there was a reason I let the Syberian AutoMechs just be run any old way the players wish.  (Indeed, it may be argued that IE is wrong about their sentience, were it not for the few clear examples that they lack free will...)

Hadn't thought about using them in AutoMechs but the targeting systems could be used by less advanced factions. The smaller mech chassis I hadn't thought about using here at all. I have been thinking of using them for mechs between 2-9 tons though as kind of a cross between a mech and a protomech. That would be cool. Does something like snow happen on the other planets?

Snow *might* happen if the planet has an atmosphere and a water/water-like cycle of some kind. The snow could be comprised of other crystalized compounds, is all. If more silicates, we're talking sand, but if it's, say, something like crystalized nitrogen, maybe? Who knows? I wasn't planning on delving too deeply there, and would definitely need to call in Cray to work such things out.

I suppose you could fluff it like that.

And so I have!

Part of the fluff did cover the fact that all the Successor States eventually did TRY it, so you could sneak it in that way...  ^-^

Yarp!

Also since Clans LPL is far more BV effecient as the damage source, you could squeeze in much more damage source as well.

Of course! I wrote all the WMD rules, after all, but for my Syberians... well....

Maybe they have them but can't use them because they're not authorized to use the command keys?

That's already allowed. Under the Prohibited Tech part of the construction rules:

"Primitive Components: AutoMechs may not mount any primitive core components, such as engines, cockpits, gyros, and the like. Primitive and prototype weapons may be mounted on an AutoMech, however, reflecting flawed or low-resource technologies being produced in Syberia’s older manufacturing centers."

Would that include the prototype Clan Tech? The stuff that's not quite as good as IS 3060 tech.

If we're talking about the convertible AutoMechs, those armors would be disallowed anyway, as would be the Command Console in any AutoMech type (I'd have a primitive AutoMech brain simply being a heavier brain, with no added bells and whistles, OR an honest-to-Cat ATAC drone system...but having to deal with those command flowcharts would drive me buggy.) Don't have an opinion on the rest, though I would come out with strong caveats about those mechanical boosters if someone put them on a FighterMech and claimed those mechanical boosters generated aerospace thrust (because they don't).

That's cool. I just wondered about them as a failed experiment. ATAC drone systems would be cool but the flowcharts drive me buggy too. :) Yeah, that's not something I'd do. I was thinking more on beast mechs to help them blend in.

Meh. But they're not really construction rules, and some of those rules might really handicap your AutoMechs, what with the lighter ones not really having a lot of space in them to begin with. A Snowmobile chassis mode being tossed in as a Quirk could be interesting, but it's worth noting that there's no snow on Syberia, so they'd be meant for one of the few worlds in their system where there is enough of an atmosphere for something *like* snow to happen.

Given that the Salvage Arm is fluffed as having multiple "powered tools" to aid in its work, bypass kits may be one of said tools, so there's that.

I suppose you could fluff it like that.

Why 5000, though? I mean, as someone who has only ever basically done the values for any game (often fo both sides) of a game, I have pretty much decided the BV by doing one side (by bit count, which has more of an impact of playing time than points costs, BV or otherwise) and then matching the other, so I have no basis for comparison. (Also granted I very rarely use introtech unless it does fill a gap in said army lists, so my viewpoint in generally 3050 onwards, so I have even less basis for comparion there.)

If 5000 is some sort of standard, then I might further ask why that was chosen and not, like 6000 or 4000 or something (as I assume there must be a reason).

(I don't have time to dig out my folder and skim over what BVs I have used, right now, sadly, but I have a gut feeling it's probably closer to 6000, but very definitely not a round number cap, but one which was fixed by whatever BV the first side I worked out was, plus or minus. (No PV system is granular enough to be able to lose sleep over +/- a couple of percentage points; terrain, player skill and hell, dice rolls will have more of an effect than that.))
