the character creation isn't really more organized, they just changed point buy to be the default and made life path the enriched / guided option. the sample characters were also adjusted to conform to point buy (the elemental and... scout? required a lot of fiddling)

The formatting is better. In the old printing, the words "Point Buy" never appeared in any header. Now, "Point Buy" appears in two headers; one of them is a level-1 header.

I would like to see a document that outlines what if anything that has been changed or subject to errata buffing.

It would sure make life easier for the player base.

Big ideas and gaming outside the box. #Gametavern proprietor. Plus Ultra.

Most of it is in the errata document under the latest printing.

Yeah, all errata errata is in the doc that's been on the website for a few months.  In terms of other items, apparently tiered skills were removed along with Thick/Thin Skinned (not errata per se, so I didn't really know about it until seeing it here; will update the errata doc to add those things), and any typos I could find were fixed.  The most important thing by far was the rework of the character creation chapter, which in turn saw the index reworked.  Broadly, if you were okay with the book before and have a copy, you don't need a new one.  If you never did pick up a copy, or if you're planning on teaching the game to new people, this slight revision is much better.  Despite the changes and the new (old retro cover, it's definitely not a new edition, however.

This post encouraged me to make a video explaining the current errata document. Enjoy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hp7r6DJ5eTU&list=PLW4v4K6PB7qLTa-BQbf8qSxF3T_NSDVOV&index=3

Honestly after reading the Third Printing and seeing the changes, my interest is piqued. Now I just have to get it on Foundry VTT.

I do wish they would fix up the Battle armor rules.
Most pieces of equipment that aren't in Total Warfare, have no RPG stats, and they never released conversion rules that I saw.

Just got AToW in hardcover at the flgs and am reading through it. I’m new to roleplay in the BTverse, so I’m wondering what’s in the companion that I’d need, when the companion was last printed, and if it’s going to get a new print anytime soon as well.

I have TW, CO, and TO:AR in hardcover and am wondering if I should be trying to track down the Companion or not.

Getting the Companion digitally is your only option for the forseeable future unless you want to shell out big bucks for an old printing.

The companion adds a lot. Different ways of handling wounds, faction-specific Rank trait tables, detailed rules for cybernetics, advanced melee combat options, and so, so much more.

I feel like I am in a minority in this, but I am not a fan of the new cover. But that could be since I just gotten into BattleTech, I have no nostalgia for this old school art.

To be fair, while old BattleTech art varies greatly, I think we can all agree that the humans generally got it the worst. Take that and apply it to the only cover with human characters, and...

Unless they have a new edition (I really hope they are working on it) or a new printing, I will end up getting this. I’ll just have to make a slip cover with the 1st printing art work on it or something.
