Frankenmech rules starting page 189 Strategic Operations
Engine restrictions as found on Page 215 of Tech Manual
Additional relevant rulings here (https://bg.battletech.com/forums/index.php?topic=7132.msg161533#msg161533) and here (https://bg.battletech.com/forums/index.php?topic=1749.msg35968#msg35968).
Keeping the above rulings in mind I find myself wondering if in the case of using an Industrialmech side torso but a Battlemech center torso that uses an XL engine can still be made to work despite Industrialmechs not being able to mount XL engines.
Rephrasing my ramble there as a question:
Can you use an Industrialmech side torso with the center torso of a Battlemech that has an XL engine?

I'm a little shocked myself it's already been a month.

A day early but if I wait I'll probably forget.
I may have to suggest for the sake of sanity/simplicity that it may just be better to not actually allow mixing of Industrialmech parts and proper Battlemech parts despite the previous ruling specifically allowing it that I linked.
It would seem to be the easiest way to avoid a lot of fringe/weird interactions while also dealing with this question.

Another monthly bump.
-
No you cannot.

Thanks xotl.
The whole mixing of Industrialmech parts and Battlemech parts under these rules is something I have determined is more trouble than it is worth, especially for all the extra record keeping it would create.
