Battle of Tukayyid - Intent of 'Repair Time' Rule
« on: 17 February 2022, 03:34:16 »
Hello! In the Battle of Tukayyid campaign book, the repair time rule states that a unit undergoing internal repair 'is unavailable until the region changes'.

If we are playing a 'Best of 3 tracks' per region style campaign, what is the intent for how this rule should be applied? Is it the following:

(1)

Unit A suffers internal and armour damage across multiple locations in Track 1 -> I elect to fully repair it -> Unit 1 is unavailable until Track 4 (or region change if earlier)

(2)

Unit A suffers internal and armour damage across multiple locations in Track 1 -> I elect to repair the armour damage locations only -> Unit can can be deployed to subsequent tracks -> I elect to repair structure damage and restore armour to Unit A after Track 3 -> Unit A is available in Track 4, fully repaired.

Is Option 2 within the spirit of the rules?

Additionally:

If a unit suffers a Through Armour Critical to any component, does this count as needing an 'Internal Repair'?

Thank you for your help.

Hello.
Yes, both options are are well within the intent of the rules. You can repair it all at once, or slap some armor on it and wait for just before the region change to make the big repairs.
If you want to repair that through armor crit, then you will have to pay the internal repair cost.

Excellent - thank you for the clarifications.

To further double check my understanding:

In scenario (2) in my original post, would the repairs look like this:

Repair 1 - armour is restored to all locations EXCEPT that which took internal damage. Controlling player pays Tonnage x 1 SP for armour repairs only.

Repair 2 - at the end of the track, the controlling player pays Tonnage x 3 SP (1 x Armour, 2 x Structure) to fully repair the 'mech before the next track.

Many thanks!

Yes, that is correct.

Note in the occasion of the through armor critical, unless there's actual internal structure damage, you can repair that armor in that location.  But just doing an armor repair wouldn't repair the critical hit.  If it's also taking internal structure damage, then you can't repair the armor in that location until the structure is repaired (and repair would fix the critical hit then as well).
