(Answered) Anti-Radiation Missiles (ARADs vs Stealth Armor)
« on: 14 September 2022, 09:56:04 »
Based on the description from TacOps ARAD missiles home on anything that transmits in the battlespace and it gives a list, but the current topic discussion brought two questions to mind.

The Angel ECM interferes with Streak SRMs so that it is not an automatic hit with all the missiles.  By the description of the Streak missiles, the whole flight receives telemetry updates from the launcher & its own targeting system.

Should active Streak SRMs & LRMs also attract ARAD missiles?

Per how Stealth Armor works now, the ECM is used to keep a mech, veh or BA's own transmissions trapped inside the armor- why C3 does not work when Stealth Armor is active.  I am not sure, either in rules or even design, we ever had any sort of discussion about Stealth Armor stopping Artemis telemetry links on missile launchers which would be the same in principle.

Does active Stealth Armor negate the ECM's targeting bonus for ARAD missiles- IE Stealth Armor is not a valid target for the bonuses?

Anti-Radiation Missiles are TacOps pg 368

Streak method of getting all missile to hit, ER2750 pg 100
Angel ECM negating Streak into standard SRM, TacOps pg 279

Stealth Armor- for putting the mech in a ECM environment while not functioning like a normal ECM, Total Warfare pg 142

Linked Post.

Anti-Radiation missiles get a bonus to the attack roll against targets with active ECM systems.  However, Stealth Armor uses the ECM to reduce the mech's normal transmissions rather than broadcasting an active signal.  Do ARADs still get their normal bonus against a mech with active Stealth Armor?  It seems counter-intuitive.

ARADs do not home in on Streak systems.

As far as ARADs are concerned, Stealth units are considered to be completely non-emitting during any turn that the Stealth systems are active.  This overrides any and all emitting systems equipped by that unit, but not external emitters such as attached NARC pods.

As an aside, active stealth armor blocks a unit's Artemis IV, because it is under the effect of a hostile ECM.
