(Answered) Field Guns

the rules in Tac Op say you can attach field guns to infantry units . each "gun" comes with "one ton of ammo" . they refer you to the weapons charts in the back of the tech manual to pick your "field guns" from .

my question is , what are the limitations to defining a "field gun" ? does the "one ton of ammo" mean the only options are auto cannons and gauss weapons ? or by the 31st century would that also include lasers (with a ton of battery packs) and missile launchers ? is this simply something CGL over looked in their revising of editions ?

i my self would lean toward it including any of the weapons on the charts , simply modified to be towed into battle with the squads . but what do the experts think ?
