(Answered) Foot Infantry bays and equipment

Table on pg 239 tech manual lists foot as 5 tons, and motorized as 7.

I've noticed that all the DropShips in TRO 3057r that have infantry have them listed as foot infantry. Does this mean I can make a DropShip, giving only the tonnage for foot infantry (5 tons) and then simply have the 2 tons of motorised gear in the cargo hold? If not, is it correct to assume that no IS DropShip can transport anything other than Foot Platoons (perhaps getting gear on planet), or am I reading it wrong and Foot Platoon means any type of infantry in the TRO. All this discounting BA Infantry, of course.

Sorry if this is in the wrong place, it came up while designing a DropShip.

Infantry Bays may carry any kind of infantry the player desires.  There are however some conditions to this.

- If the player wishes to be able to use the Infantry Carrier rules for Mounting and Dismounting (see p. 223, Total Warfare) then the infantry unit must fit its entire weight in the specifically designated infantry bay/compartment.
- An Infantry unit bay load into a bay of smaller size in two ways.  1- It loads its additional equipment as cargo.  If it Dismounts during game play, it is treated as Foot Infantry.  2- It uses more than one Infantry Bay/Compartment to accommodate its weight.  For example, a Motorized Platoon could use two Foot Platoon Bays.

As always, infantry can load as cargo.  If they do so, they load and unload per the rules for Moving Cargo in Strategic Operations (see p. 41)
