Well, it carries 2 small craft . . . so yeah, it could be used for rescue, patrol, & customs work if you wanted I guess.

As mentioned, it already carries small craft...which are mandatory if you want to board anything that can expend 1 or more Thrust Points.

The DropShip itself will do just fine for boarding functionally immobile units like JumpShips or stations.

Am pleased with the additions, both useful designs- The Drost/a is a very welcome bonus. I can see it not just hauling around combat troops but also all the support staff that is needed. Got enough cargo for pens and paperclips, too.

Given how much cargo most canon vee/infantry transports carry, if a combined-arms force ever runs out of supplies, it is *never* for lack of carrying space. :)

See, I think the Drost is the ideal ship for a 2 dropship long range/term raiding force . . . Union with the mechs, goes in and secures some stretch of highway.  The Drost lands with up to 280 infantry/techs along with 2200+ tons of supplies or room for loading.

Basically your raiding TO&E would be-
1 Company mechs
2 ASF
2 Small Craft
2 company foot infantry (168 men)
1 'company' of techs (84) aside from what is on the Union
HQ/staff platoon (28)

As for how you haul the loot back?  Either seize trucks, pack some in the cargo space, or your mechs have fists w/nets.

A Beautiful PWS to support large raids or planetary assault, it could also be done with more than one and support from DS Fighters system interdiction forces

Read the orbital bombardment rules VERY carefully, and calculate the numbers for a unit shooting at the ground while flying at High Altitude 1.  >:D

So my Centurion force from before did not end up on the table due to scheduling problems.

Now our group is having a Periphery based game- 6k including skills must come from a Periphery faction and I do not recall a era being specified . . .

. . . so roll back out my Centurions!

With updates to the MUL I was looking at . . .

3/5 Centurion 9-Ar (Woodland camo, old RP sculpt)
3/5 Centurion 10-B (Omni Cent mini)
3/5 Centurion 9-H2
3/5 Cataphract 1X (AS Lance plastic?)
3/8 Ravager squad (LRM, 5 troopers)- assault BA cannot do AM attacks, so skill goes as low as possible
     BV- 6066

Not sure, might switch the mini for the 9-Ar to the 9-H2, letting me paint up a KS Centurion as a I Legio mech- the Cataphract would get painted, and probably the one I reposed.  The Ravagers will probably right the Cataphract, IIRC the PPC is in the arm so they will just cover up the AC/10 until deployed.  I will be loading precision ammo.

The Falcon was already there and the Hawk replaced the classic LTV4 that was already on the list, Same as the Patton Ultra
 the rest are addictions

I like your force, but I don't think the Ravagers have magnetic clamps . They will not be able to ride on the Cataphract so their speed may be a problem. Could swap them for Marauder BA.

Hm, I thought MagClamps were a staple of Hegemony BA . . .

. . . *double checks* ok, no MagClamps . . . but eh, it has LRMs . . . 2 walk is fine in relation to my 4/6 force.

The Marauder have MagClamps. Both models of Ravager do not, but only the (LRM) version sports, well, LRMs.

It is fine, like I said it can waddle forward to get in reach.  Better than something with a 3 hex range weapon having to walk into the fight.

Be interesting to see what Periphery factions get represented in this fight- postponed to the 14th now- since the most advanced faction over time is the Canopians.  Anyone fielding those girls are going to be top dogs when it comes to tech.

The Wolf Empire was selling it to generate resources, not so surprising then?

From what I see this comes from a little before the Wolf Empire I see more the hands of the Sea Fox

In Dark Age Era we already had it

the initial spread for the galleon c was deemed too narrow and a slightly larger proliferation was added

In Dark Age Era we already had it

. . . it was literally built in the Wolf Empire per the RecGuide comments, the Amity plant builds it with a minimum of Clan tech and exported with a steep mark-up.  I mean the FCE lets it pack the ChemLL for a pretty decent punch in the turret, it is a typical Clan vehicle in the glass hammer vein.

It would work very well I think in a LRDG-style raiding force, racing in out of the wilds to blow the crap out of a base, then withdrawing before defenses can be organized. Same with Marian slave raids. Because of the high total firepower I would use those Galleons to focus fire and bring down any armored targets quickly while the rest of the force concentrated in grabbing loot and general mayhem.

We got Galleons of all flavours for that: The 106 to find the stuff, the C to slay whatever is in need of slaying, the 106M to carry infantry and loot and the 200R as mobile Claymores to cover the retreat.

We could say that we have been well stocked in the Galleon niche, let's hope we have good luck with other niches where we have many gaps to cover

A bad night for the Marian Hegemony . . .

The commander will be referring tonight's showing to the inspectorate.  It seems someone replaced the quality Marian Arms ammunition with some from Quikscell production from last century causing misfires from the autocannons or they were ballistically inefficient to the point of causing accuracy problems.  Legionnaire Grant Aeneas' Centurion 10-B was gutted by ranged LRM fire though most of the rest of the mech was intact for salvage.  The force's only heavy, the Cataphract, was caught from behind by a enemy Orion that managed to put a gauss round dead center to crush structure into the gyro.

Oddly enough, it was the weakest Centurion- our local build 9-H2 that managed to run for the objective while blowing a enemy Cadaver off it's feet.  Two of the RL10 pods connected with 60% of their rounds and that legionnaire placed their LB-10X cluster in such a way that all of the sub-munitions impacted.  While none of the sub-munitions managed to damage the internal components of the mech, one struck the mech's head . . . it must have hit in just the right way because the mech fell over as if no one was in charge of the machine.

Part of the reason Legio techs investigated the remaining ammunition was that the HPPC armed managed to connect several times with it's energy weapons- far more consistently than the ammunition dependent designs.

The AS Lance Pack Cataphract I painted up running as a CTF-X1 in I Legio colors.  Still needs a bit of white, some steel for the cockpit frame & hand, and I was thinking of making the cockpit gold.

Sounds like a tough battle for our troops. Good to see our Low Tech Centurions pulling their weight, though. A gold cockpit would look neat btw, marking the leader.
