All of those are very common everywhere, so yes. :)

You can even give it a little factional flair. The MAD-3M and WVR-6M would be roughly as common (if not moreso) than the base model

Excellent ideas! Thanks. Would it be more feasible then to go with some of the more introductory mechs like the baseline models for a merc company? Something like this for a demi-company?

Marauder MAD-3R
Orion ON1-K
Thunderbolt TDR-5S
Warhammer WHM-6R
Griffin GRF-1N
Wolverine WVR-6R

Would these mechs be in common usage in the FWL?

There's no reason to use the vanilla WVR-6R when the League has the Wolverine 6M, arguably the best introtech medium 'Mech.

Private armies are part of the feudal life. So you could have a minor Marik Lord or lady raising a company of loyal retainers such as those units you described. They aren't mercs but they aren't exactly regular army either. All the Houses have this phenomenon, from the Night Stalkers to Lady Stapleton's Grenadiers.

The league, also, from a lore standpoint, has a coupe of additional bonuses that dovetail nicely with the OP's goal: there's a lot of little nations inside the FWL, and they all have their own standing armies that don't have to answer to the federal government; and there's a GAGILLION little worlds in the league that aren't part of ANY of those little nations!

Your company could be:
- the defenders of one of those little worlds.
- the little world's contribution TO the federal army (and assigned as a free-floating reserve by the FWLM, because 1 company isn't really enough to handle business on their own.  From an RPG perspective, that's a LOT of independent freedom tied to a federal army supply point for beans and bullets... ;-)
- the defenders of one of the little nations, a little noble-raised unit that doesn't leave the little perimeter
- a little world inside's contribution to the federal army: "The FWL league requires our nation to send three regiments of mechs to support them but they didn't say they had to be UNIFIED REGIMENTS so have fun managing 27 separate companies yah scrubs, hahahaha!"

These are all canon ideas, and a bunch of other people have suggested others, and they ALL fit the established lore.

have fun!  (oh, and my only note about the various mech suggestions is a +1 on the Orion if you have one, it's pretty iconic to them.  otherwise, I like where your build is going.)

It is not that what you had at first is wrong- we do not mean to say that at all.

It is just a matter of timing.  If you look at what was available to B & C rated mercs at the time that were not going to be immediately facing the Clans, you can see they mixed some of what was TRO3050 with the old 3025 designs.  The story of what was available when has changed since the Clan Invasion was initially announced, so you can have some advanced tech/designs and some of the old standbys in the same formation.  The real thing it comes down to, IMO, is what do you want to do with it?  You want to run a pirate hunting campaign into the periphery to defend your holdings on that border (the FWLM is ignoring our needs!)?  Do you want to try to 'expand' your holdings and conquer part of Astrokaszy?  Have your people suffered at the hands of the Marian Hegemony and you wish to repay them?  Just as if it was real, you would try to arrange your force to make the most of your benefits over your target even if you had a few curveballs.

FREX, it would be funny- and brutal- to have a Orion 1-M (avail 3049) in your formation . . . the reason?  It has a NARC!  Which means all your other LRM & SRM launchers get more dangerous because they can fire off NARC-capable ammunition.  So place the Orion with a brawler/line formation and then you have your Archer 2R, Griffin (1N or 3M, either works), and Trebuchet able to throw more damage than normal from their launchers.

The League also gets a special Marauder between 3025 and 3050, the Marauder 4X which is a experimental/prototype design.  It has Blazers, which are a bit of a dead-end design but as long as you are not facing the Clans should be fine until all the improved tech becomes pervasive.

Honestly, going mix & match of tech level for a personal guard with excellent access to new tech (a noble on a factory world, thus connections?) what might be a flavorful force?

Marauder 4X
Orion 1-M
Wolverine 6M
Warhammer 7M

Archer 2R (or a 2S as 'salvage')
Crusader 3R/3D/3L (as you feel)
Griffin 3M
Trebuchet

Phoenix Hawk 1
Stinger
Wasp 3M
Spider 8M

Then you can make notes like . . . '3053 Archer upgrades to 4M' or '3055, the WVR upgrades to the 7M' and just walk them through variants you like as time goes on.  All though do not be afraid to be the one 'field testing' (like on Astrokaszy) some new variant or weapons options.  One of the ways I like to see something on the table before it might show up for it's actual date.

I'm trying to build a mercenary command that are House Marik Loyalists(is that even a thing?) that is made up of all Free Worlders and would like to strictly use FWL manufactured mechs.

Btw, if you want mercs that are FWL loyalists, there is literally a canon unit for that, too...

FWL variants exist for the Marauder (MAD-3M) and the Wolverine (WVR-6M).

Which is good news because many people consider the FWL Wolverine to be the best medium mech in 3025.

I'm going to take a slightly different tack here, and say that I think your bleeding-edge-of-3050 initial force was an excellent choice as-was (though including the Orion is also excellent).  The purpose of a game is to enjoy yourself, and if you were looking over 'Mech variants and decided "I like the look of this one, it seems fun" and that list is what you happened to come up with over 12 instances of that?  Have at it, buddy.  All of those units are on the IS General or Free Worlds League availability lists in the Clan Invasion era, and that's where the "is this lore compliant?" question starts and ends as far as trying to draw inside the lines of canon.  Do not ever feel compelled to dial your fun back because someone else doesn't think it's perfectly representative of the average mercenary company in 3050.

Kansas City players, or people who are just passing through the area, come join us at the Geekery just off Shawnee Mission Parkway for BattleTech!  Current days are Tuesdays in the afternoon and evening.  I can't make every single week, but odds are pretty good that somebody will be there.

For 3025 the FWL produces the following mechs:

Assault:  Battlemaster, Stalker, Goliath, Thug, Awesome.
Heavy:  Guillotine, Orion, Crusader, Thunderbolt, Archer, Warhammer, Marauder-M, Rifleman.
Medium:  Wolverine-M, Griffin, Shadow Hawk, Phoenix Hawk, Cicada, Hermes II, Trebuchet.
Light:  Spider, Locust, Stinger, Wasp, Flea, Hermes.

For vehicles they really go heavy on three designs:  Ontos, Galleon, and Harasser.
