I assure all of you that it’s really not that deep

We assign availability based on a zoom-hosted seance in which we consult with Herbert Hoover’s Belgian Shepherd, King Tut

6/9/9 with a headcapper- that is the BV

If they'd thrown in a sensor package we'd never build a light mech again, I think.

I remember hearing a while back that availability generally could be interpreted as "multiple examples in multiple units" and that has never felt wrong.  If I build a FWL company with a Griffin C in it, no one is going to notice or care.  If I build a FWL company with a Skinwalker in it, there are going to be some questions.

Kansas City players, or people who are just passing through the area, come join us at the Geekery just off Shawnee Mission Parkway for BattleTech!  Current days are Tuesdays in the afternoon and evening.  I can't make every single week, but odds are pretty good that somebody will be there.

Well it could always be a breakaway former Wolf garrison company from the Empire that longed for the comforts of home, like Greek food and eagle tattoos.

This is the right of it, yeah. I’ve also been told “shows up on a RAT” will more often than not make its way to the mul list, though it’s not an iron-clad rule

Well the new IlClan guide gave us a couple of Phoenix Hawk Dark Age goodies. The 3M remains around in the Dark Age, which is cool, since it's a nice energy based skirmisher that we can use to supplement our Bloodhound/Ghost/Hermes II/Shadow Cat/Wolverine/Wraith scout and medium cavalry lances.   The 4M is the 3M's more advanced cousin with a light fusion engine, endo steel. two light PPCs, two medium X-Pulse and two small X-pulse lasers with 12 DHS.

Heh I still prefer the Wraith. Slap some X-pulses or Clan pulse lasers on it and you're good to go.

I like the look the the 9. The LXPL and 8 jumping range gives it the same sort of harassing ability as the older 7K for basically the same price. And I definitely prefer the 9 in that role.

Compared to the Wraith? Well...the Wraith is a heck of a lot tougher, but a lot more restricted in what it's able to accomplish. It's a dedicated backstabber or light-hunter, while the 9 can act as a great skirmisher as well.

What I find really competes with the 9 in a non-BV environment? The older Griffin 4R. And if you're in the Canopian neck of the woods, the Agrotera completely outclasses it in every way, shape, and form.

But that's to be expected. The Agrotera is a real work of art.

How do we feel the FWL is looking in the new, post Hour of the Wolf, status quo?

For my part, I get the impression that the FWL adjacent worlds of the Wolf Empire might be ripe for the taking, as they are apparently undefended what with Clan Wolf losing over half it's strength taking Terra.

Or am I being hopelessly optimistic over the League's current military and industrial strength?

I guess it depends on when and what the League hears about the state of Clan Wolf military.

If they hear about a shattered Clan Wolf touman that's being assaulted by one or more Clans and/or one or more Inner Sphere powers simultaneously, maybe Free Worlds leadership would consider retaking a few key undefended worlds.

But it's not like it's entirely pressing to take those worlds. If the Wolves beat back future challengers for Terra/the ilClanship but are demolished in the process, well, all the better. If the Wolves survive their contenders while retaining their current strength (or beefening up through Absorption and the like) then it'd have been a good decision not to take those worlds. And if the Wolves aren't challenged, then taking the planets early on would just draw their attention and ire. In any of the scenarios, the Lyrans wont offer much competition to reclaiming those planets and can probably be pushed aside if it comes to that.

On the flip side, Tamarind is already waging an unauthorized war with the Marian Hegemony while an increasingly ambitious Andurien and Canopus are making inroads against independent and not-so-independent League worlds. And Regulus was just conquered--moving troops away from occupied Regulan planets to open a new front could encourage the surviving Hussars to make another bid at retaking Regulus and their independence/control of Atreus/whatever.

So I'd say focusing on the two immediate threats, those being the Marians and the Andurien/Canopian block, would probably be better than risking it all on taking Wolf worlds.

"Status quo" feels like a bit of a misnomer at the moment, but personally I'm hoping that the Wolves pick a non-FWL faction to try to bring to heel first, and Nikol Marik realizes that the truce with the Wolves has outlived its usefulness and seizes the opportunity to take back the Marik-Stewart Commonwealth.

Hey, who remembers that right now, there is exactly *one* thread where forum members are allowed to discuss Hour of the Wolf and its aftermath? C:-)

It is a safe topic, provided it's in the HotW thread. Unfortunately, repeated cases of folks ignoring mod directives has forced us to adopt a zero tolerance policy towards HotW discussions anywhere else.
