Spare/replacement/substitute parts options?
« on: 16 January 2021, 07:30:17 »
Okay, so I'm going to be needing some parts to complete some Unseen, and it's the usual suspects: PPC's for Griffin's, medium lasers and autocannons for Shadow Hawks, backpacks for Griffin's and Shadow Hawks and missile launchers for the above and Thunderbolts.

I've posted over at Lords of the Battlefield (yes, it is back up and running), but nothing as of yet. So I was wondering if anyone here might have suggestions as to what I could use as substitutes?

I'm working up some parts comparison photos. Probably have them ready Saturday.

IWM sell a sprue with the reseen Griffin's PPC & LRM. It's a handy one. Backpacks from the Crosscut, with diesel stacks removed, may serve also.

I added a couple of those to a recent order from Aries Games, along with some Shadow Hawk AC's. Not a perfect fit, but the best I've stumbled upon so far.

Here are a couple of backpack options. The Crimson Hawk part will require cutting off the sides at least.

The only thing I can easily find that looks close to the original Griffin PPC is the Swordsman AC.

For the Shadow Hawk AC (as well as dorsal guns for various Marauders), you have a lot of options, some requiring conversion work.

Not pictured here, the AC from the Shadow Hawk SHD-2HB 20-5169 looks like it would be good too.

Shadow Hawk ML options. The Sha Yu and Osprey parts would need cut down, but would look ok.

Finally, for missile launchers, there are some ok-but-not-great options. Also, not pictured here, the tube from the Griffin GRF-1N 20-5184 looks reasonable too.

Wow, thanks for the awesome comparison photos

Certainly opens up some options. Need to dig out the old parts box, see what I have and what I still need.

The Hound's gun is what I am using for a Marauder conversion.
