(Answered) Aero return fire and arcs

On Page 151 of TW for a ground unit to shoot an ASF it must fire at the closest part of the flight path, and if the ASF flies directly over the unit you treat the hex it was in "before" entering that hex as the closest for the purposes of angle of attack / determining which weapons have arc on the ASF.

This however creates an edge case where (even after twisting) a ground unit can draw line of fire to an adjacent hex which the ASF passes through but not have any firing arcs to the oncoming hex that TW is forcing it to use.

Is it the intended purpose of this rule that a ground unit that is passed over but can not get a weapon into the oncoming arc of the ASF can not fire at that ASF that round?

If that is not the intention of that rule it seems TW needs some errata to handle that situation.
Either A: A ground unit firing at an ASF that passes through your hex does not require the arc of your weapon to be able to target the oncoming hex (as you are firing at your hex just above you)
Or B: If (after all possible twisting) you have no "viable" weapons that may fire at the oncoming hex, you may use any adjacent hex that the ASF flies through that you have weapons with firing arcs.

However B comes with some additional issues such as what exactly is a viable weapon in this case, and the very edge case where the ASF stops it's move in the same hex as the ground unit and can attack it but the ground unit doesn't have a gun with an arc of fire that it can fire back with.  That however may be just a case that your enemy outmaneuvered and attacked from a blind spot, and you should have used better tactics.

Thank you in advance.

Seems very strange that you can't shoot something flying away where your guns are pointed at, just because it flew into your hex; However if that is the rule, well than that is the rule.

Thank you for the research.
