(Research) Non-Point ProtoMech Formations

Per TW p. 184, ProtoMechs move in groups of five, representing a single point. However, ProtoMechs are also used by Word of Blake (in rare instances) and Society (very frequently) forces. When fielding these units in their appropriate formations, are protos still required to move in groups of five, or may they instead move in sixes (Level IIs) and threes (uns) respectively?
