(Answered) Mechanized BA active probes
« on: 14 April 2021, 22:53:40 »
While a battle armor unit is mounted on an OmniMech/Vehicle (or standard Mech/vehicle using mag clamps) using mechanized BA rules, do they still detect hidden units if they have active probes or similar equipment e.g. improved sensors?  Or do they only detect hidden units after they dismount?

Total Warfare, corrected fifth printing
Mechanized battle armor rules, starting page 226
Improved sensors BA equipment, page 228
Active probe equipment, page 129

There is no specific page references I can give beyond that, as far as I can tell this situation isn't addressed at all.

Errata for this was added in the sixth printing:

“Mounted infantry may not fire weapons, spot for indirect fire or take any action other than dismounting from the carrier. Equipment that does not require an action to use (such as an ECM suite on a battle armor unit) does not function.”

So the probe doesn't function.
