(Answered) Running just to generate heat

So this popped into my head earlier - can a 'mech declare a run and then use significantly fewer MP, just to generate the +2 heat? 

For example a 'mech that moves 4/6 and has Triple-Strength Myomer needs to generate an additional 1 heat point to activate the TSM, so the player declares a run, but only uses 4MP, and obeys the running restrictions while doing so.  Is that allowed?

You pick your movement mode at the start of the Movement Phase, which fixes the move type you're technically doing.  However, there's no requirement to actually move any set number of MPs once you have done so.  Whether you use any, all, or none of your MP is up to you.

So your example is allowed.
