Hello everyone!
My friend group is transitioning to Battletech from Warhammer 40k. I've fallen in love with Royal mechs and Clan Blood Spirit seems to be a perfect fit for those mechs but feel free to correct me if I'm mistaken. I'm wondering if you fine folk could lend me a hand in organizing my collection into stars that would make logical sense for gameplay and fluff. I would also appreciate any help with naming my unit and if it would be considered a frontline or second-line unit. I am looking to build for the clan invasion and civil war era.
I've included a text file with my collection below. Also included are a Kodiak and a Vaporhawk. The Kodiak isn't on the MUL but perhaps it was captured?
Thanks for all the help! Any advice is welcome! I've enjoyed my Battletech journey immensely so far.
First of all welcome: not a Blood Spirit just a Ghost Bear hopping around but welcome all the same.
Your unit is DEFINITELY going to be a second line formation. While Star League Mechs are cool and awesome the Clans in the ‘modern’ era treat them badly and assign them to their second line forces. Even as resource strapped as the Spirit will relegate them so.
That being said you have thirty machines so that will be two Trinaries of 15 each. IMO Your best bet it to split the stars by weight and movement class and have an assault/ heavy Trinary, and a medium/light one. You can assign the Hellbringer as the commander of the second lighter unit and claim it’s because it’s the only OmniMech and it’s faster than the other heavies (Lancelot not included: observe the Lancelot C).
Salvage is ALWAYS a thing and unlike Warhammer MOST BT will not force you to explain the providence of your forces. And even though I’m a Ghost Bear I would actually advocate the Kodiak as your commanders mech: it’s the largest and newest mech in your force.
Currently at work but I’ll edit my post to throw an organizational chart later: these are just my initial thoughts.
