I mean, it'll be the third time in less than a century that Terrans have gone along with a power that conquered them and then built a nation at the core of the IS to shield them from the Houses.

Seems earthlings might have a type. :)

Looks like the (new) SLDF Regular Army is indeed showing up sooner rather than later.

At which point: I might wonder: are the "Star League" BattleMechs on the 40th anniversary box set covers in fact from this iteration of the SLDF?

It does look like the Awesome on one of the covers has four PPCs - which might make it an Awesome C? (If so, perhaps the Sea Foxes acquired the blueprints from the Goliath Scorpions at some point, and later made them available for the new Regular Army to make use of.)

-----

On another topic - to quote from the Brush Wars blurb in the second link above:

Quote
And, like Operational Turning Point: Hanseatic Crusade, each Brush Wars release in PDF will be supported by a slate of companion PDFs, with an eye toward eventual compilation in POD format.

Might it be possible to one day reconsider providing the compilation/Print On Demand option for OTP:HC itself?

Since it appears that the Scorpion Empire is set to be featured in BattleTech Universe, such a compilation product might be useful for those Seeking (ahem) an opportunity to learn more about the events which brought the Empire into being.

And, technically-speaking, the Scorpions are now an "on-map" presence in the Inner Sphere and near Periphery, courtesy of their new holding in the Chaine Cluster - and perhaps also due to all those Seeker shopping tripsquests popping up as of late...

I think that's just a standard 8Q Awesome.  The left arm seems to be the standard mace/claw hand.  It doesn't have the barrel threading of the other PPCs.

It would honestly be quite strange for the cover art of a box set to feature a mech variant that doesn't come in the box.

There is some Ilclan universe fluff being put in the anniversary boxes. Maybe pilot/AS card updates as well? They said it’s the exact same box other than the Ilclan pamphlets so probably just to original cards?

I would thing it very controversial that civilian caste/citizens of Terra would get any kind say.  Clans are governed by a bloodnamed Warrior counsels, with exception of the Ghost Bears. Which even there showed that was weakening given the aftermath of the Ghost Bear civil war/rendering.

Why even resurrect the Terran Hegemony?  Wolf Empire are progressing (until the Trial of ilClan) take chunk out both Steiner/Marik space.  Only matter time once Ward and his touman turn it's forces to their home territories.   You'd think that central power would be the Empire.

Why even resurrect the Terran Hegemony?

Symbolism. Alaric is obsessed with symbolism, and the Terran Hegemony was a big part of the Star League that the Clans worship.

That and public relations. Despite being Clan, Alaric isn't actually an idiot. He knows he'll need the willing support of at least some spheroids if he's gonna build his shiny new League.

As said, Public opinion.  If public opinion didn't matter to Alaric, then Dominions Divided would have been completely different.

Alaric almost certainly can't impose his will and clan law on Terra immediately. He needs to win them over or he has no work force or source of supply. Remember, he threw almost his entire warrior caste at Terra and is basically cut off from the Empire.

Also, what happened to the Jade Falcons in Japan may be a potent example as to what might happen if he pushes his newly conquered population too far. Technically, he is catastrophically outnumbered by the population he now rules.

It is worth noting that, while the Snow Ravens are the dominant power in the Raven Alliance, they saw fit to leave the office of Alliance President in place. Not least since, unlike in the Rasalhague Dominion, the Raven population for the most part keeps to its separate enclaves, leaving the bulk of the Outworlder populace to its own devices. Even the AMC still exists, with its Inner Sphere regimental organization left intact - albeit serving very much as a second-line force when compared to the Snow Raven touman.

While out in the Scorpion Empire, the rise of zarKhan Emmy Line - an ex-Hansa freeborn, now the head of the Empire's civilian government - shows that Clan Goliath Scorpion is willing to chart its own course, in terms of how it balances its military and civilian needs going forward.

So there is plenty of precedent, should Alaric (or one of his successors as ilKhan) look for ways through which to give the population of Terra a meaningful stake in the new Star League - and, by extension, to free up more of his touman's resources towards fighting his external enemies.

-----

In terms of logos, I think of how the Scorpions took elements from both the Imperio logo and that of the now-former Hanseatic League in order to (re-)brand the Scorpion Empire.

Similarly, perhaps Alaric (or, again, one of his successors) might brand a new Terran realm, by taking the Clan daggerstar and merging it with elements of the Republic of the Sphere logo.

Now, where might I have seen such a logo before, I wonder...

If you've missed the past forty years of BattleTech fiction, there's one hell of a deal going on over at Humble Bundle.

https://www.humblebundle.com/books/battletech-fiction-collection-catalyst-game-labs-books

This includes nearly every BattleTech novel (The Sword & The Dagger, Far Country, and Star Lord excepted, plus six of the newer titles) and about 1/3 of the BattleCorps and Shrapnel anthologies. It's something like 130 novels, novellas, and collections. $30 USD is beyond a steal.

Seems earthlings might have a type. :)

Terra definitely seems to like being at the centre of everything

Symbolism. Alaric is obsessed with symbolism, and the Terran Hegemony was a big part of the Star League that the Clans worship.

And Alaric telling the people of Earth that he wanted to redirect their greatest army and put them on top is 100% going to win many of the Terrans over

There's symbolism for the Clans in the Star League but I reckon that keeping Terra on top would win over a large amount of the population

I'm always open to suggestions or additions to be incorporated so if you feel you wish to add something feel free. There's non-canon units, equipment, people, events, erm... Yes. Like the Kurita book it will be an update to the combat manual. It’s set to be the 3rd release, end of this year or start of next.

I did not see any significant new news.

Perhaps the only thing was a comment about an "ROTS spiritual successor" in IKEO.
