Tinkered with a combat-rated Support Vehicle design. Militarising existing production lines should be well within the capacity of any Succession War-era state.

Interestingly, a Support Vehicle does about as well for its chassis, controls, and engine as a combat vehicle, tonnage-wise. The big killer is the armour factor limitation- I'd have preferred a bit more there, but what can you do?

Minotaur-SV

Tracked Support Vehicle
Technology Base D

Base Chassis, Armoured Modification: 17 tons
ICE Power Plant: 15.5 tons
Fuel (1, 300 kilometre range): 2 tons
Armour (BAR 10): 9.5 tons
Advanced Fire Control: 2 tons
Turret: 2.5 tons
A/C-10: 12 tons
A/C-10 Ammunition: 2 tons
2 Machine Guns: 1 ton
Machine Gun Ammunition: .5 tons
2 LRM-5s: 4 tons
LRM-5 Ammunition: 2 tons
2 SRM-2s: 2 tons
SRM-2 Ammunition: 2 tons
Additional Crew: 1 ton

Turret: A/C-10, 2 LRM-5s, 2 SRM-2s
Left Side: Machine Gun
Right Side: Machine Gun
Body: 2 tons A/C-10 ammunition, 2 tons LRM-5 ammunition, 2 tons SRM-2 ammunition, .5 tons Machine Gun ammunition

Armour Factor: 150

Front: 35
Sides: 30
Turret: 30
Rear: 25

BV: 783
Cost: 1, 312, 697 C-Bills

Still pretty cheap and reasonably capable, at least for the SW era. Later on, you can switch to MML-5s and streamline it a bit more.
Mordin Solus: We need a plan to stop them.
John Shepard: We fight or we die. That's the plan.
Ashley Williams: Wow. That's the plan? Is it just me, or did Shepard have better plans before he died?
Urdnot Wrex: Silence! This is the best plan anyone, anywhere has ever had!
Garrus Vakarian: Yes! I AM SO THERE I AM THERE ALREADY!
Tali'Zora vas Normandy: *Facepalm*

Here is the thought of a supporting chassis that is designed to work with another existing chassis, in this case the Heavy LRM Carrier

Back                  8         20
Turret:               8         20

Weapons, Ammo, and Equipment         Location     Space   Tonnage
Machine Gun                           Turret        1        0.5
3 Autocannon 10s                      Turret        3       36

Ammo (MG) 100                          Body         1        0.5

Cost: 1,959,900
it's only scary if you are in Battlearmor or you thought the best place to be shooting an LRM carrier was standing right next to it ( not realizing what this funny looking LRM carrier wasn't) :D
Saying that because the equipment isn't up-to-the-minute, bleeding-edge tech therefore not a threat is like saying an M2 Browning isn't dangerous to modern infantry because it is 100 years old.

"Embatino" pocket battle tank

BV: 686
Cost: 989,250 C-bills
Movement: 3/5 (Tracked)
Engine: 150 I.C.E.
Internal: 25
Armor: 136
         Internal Armor
Front:     5       31
Right:     5       25
Left:       5       25
Rear:      5       25
Turret:     5       25
Weapons          Loc   Heat
Machine Gun      TU      0
Auto cannon/10   TU      3
LRM 5               TU      2
SRM 4               TU      3
Ammo                             Loc      Shots
Half Machine Gun Ammo   BD        100
AC/10 Ammo                    BD        10
AC/10 Ammo                    BD        10
LRM 5 Ammo                    BD        24
SRM 4 Ammo                    BD        25

Overview
The Embatino is a medium battle tank with the heart of a heavy, literally.  this vehicle is only as fast as a typical heavy ICE powered MBT.  However, this poor mobility is offset by additional armor and a weapons package that is an homage to simple utility.  The AC/10 is a solid performing weapon capable of dealing good damage at a variety of ranges. Backing up the main gun is a classic LRM5/SRM4 combo that supplements the firepower of the AC/10 nicely at both long and short ranges.  Finally, a single machine gun is added to provide basic anti infantry defense.

Strengths
The Embatino is well, cheap. At just under 1million C-bills the Embatino can be produced in greater numbers than most of its direct competitors.  This allows the Embatino to "gang up"(at least in the defense) on the more expensive fusion powered 60ton opponents while having similar performance to any 60ton ICE battle tanks.  As the opposition gets heavier, this logistic advantage becomes more pronounced.  Some 75 ton MBT's cost as much as 3 Embatinos.  In short, the Embatino enjoys strength in numbers.  Train the crews of several of these tanks to work together, and the results can be impressive.
Compared to most other medium tracked tanks the Embatino equal or better armor (8.5tons) and equal or better firepower.  In addition, the LRM5/SRM4 combo creates a relatively easy conversion into a twin LRM5 or dual SRM4 model that allows purchasers and commanders to customize this tank to better fit the most likely types of fighting that the commander will be doing.  Also, as this tank is built on a 50ton chassis, there may be some shared components with the vedette, making production and repairs easier.

Weaknesses
The Embatino is well, cheap.  It's heavy tank speed makes it into a unit that can't always run away, and it's 8.5 tons of armor doesn't compare favorably with a proper heavy MBT.  Similarly, the total weapons package also doesn't quite measure up to that of a true main battle tank.

Opportunities
The Embatino is, erm, cheap.  I may have mentioned this before.....  It's low price, solid armor, all around firepower, and (possible) common parts availability make it an attractive buy for any force.  Forces like planetary garrisons, and maybe some mercenary units would be the parties most likely interested in a unit like the Embatino.

Threats
The toughest competitors are most likely the less expensive Vedette, whose better mobility and longer ranged AC/5 will be a bit of trouble(though significantly mitigated by the Embatinos' LRM5), and the (40%)more expensive Myrmidon, whose better mobility and PPC represent the greatest threat to the Embatino in the medium tank category.

Variants
As has been mentioned above, the "longhorn"(LRM5) and "shorthorn"(SRM4) variants of the Embatino are simple modifications.  The designers have also considered making this tank a 55ton tank, adding 3tons of armor(11.5tons total).

Note
      1.  This concept and design predates (but was not posted) prior to toms' request for more specialized designs.  I wanted to post the idea, so I posted it anyway.  I apologize for that tom.
       2.  "Embatino" is a vocalization of the acronym MBTINO.  Which stands for Main Battle Tank In Name Only.

"Humpty" general purpose medium tank
50 Tons
BV: 615
Cost: 916,750 C-bills
Movement: 4/6 (Tracked)
Engine: 200 I.C.E.
Internal: 25
Armor: 128
           Internal      Armor
Front         5            30
Right         5            23
Left           5            23
Rear          5            22
Turret        5            30
Weapons          Loc       Heat
LRM 5                TU          2
SRM 4                TU          3
Auto cannon/5  TU          1
Machine Gun     TU          0
Ammo                             Loc  Shots
Half Machine Gun Ammo   BD   100
LRM 5 Ammo                     BD    24
SRM 4 Ammo                     BD    25
AC/5 Ammo                       BD    20

Overview
The end product of the general purpose tank, the Humpty is a simple all around tank.  A machine gun for anti-infantry defense, the classic (for me at least) LRM5+SRM4 combo to provide extra punch to the common AC/5.

Strengths
The AC/5+LRM5 allow the Humpty to match ranges while meeting or exceeding the firepower of most other traditional style medium tanks, the same holds true for the AC/5+SRM4 combo at short ranges.  The (40kph cruise, 60 kph flank) speed is good mobility for the size and firepower of the tank, but no one will be assigning it to recon duty.  The only real advantage the Humpty has may well be its 8 tons of standard armor.  The Humpty projects as a "one size fits all" kind of tank, capable of handling a variety of missions.

Weaknesses
So often "one size fits all" ends up being "one size fits none".  The generalized nature of the Humpty means that while having an advantage over it's opponents, all opponents will have an advantage over the Humpty.  This means that, in order to survive, the operator must identify the enemy weakness(es) and exploit them to survive.  A miscalculation or misidentification means is usually fatal.

Opportunities
The Humpty is (once again) cheap and versatile, meaning garrison and mercenary markets are the main interests.

Threats
The Humptys' biggest threat is its' own lack of specialization. The most dangerous opponent is once again most likely the Myrmidon with its fusion power and PPC.  The LRM5+AC/5 combo does allow for a better chance to mobility kill the Myrmidon however.

Variants
The Humpty enjoys the option of altering either the LRM5 or SRM4 into a match for its counterpart.  This modification will usually be an aftermarket modification.

Note
      1. Same as for the Embatino above.
      2.  "Humpty" is a vocalization of the acronym UMT. UMT stands for Utility Medium Tank.
