Yeah, the mods here are the friendliest and most approachable I've ever seen on a gaming message forum.  They're just trying to keep things friendly and polite.

Clan Chatterweb / Re: Terra. Home to ilClan Wolf.

I have a map-scale Broadsword I am going to paint up for our state con, entering both a mech and the dropship.  Crusader & Warden fleet assets are painted the same, so it will not matter THOUGH I am thinking of doing the 352nd Assault Cluster's logo some where.

While not absolute canon, the small dropship in GBL has Ghost Bear logos plastered all over it along with . . . the trinary logo?  I am thinking of doing a large Wolf logo on the middle of the back.  I have a few FPG decals my wife gave me so I could put them on the 'wings' and the front opposite the SRM6 on the side of the bridge.  Which means the broad part on the back I could put a stencil of the 352nd.

What I am not looking for is a dropship that could be looked at quickly and just think it is a generic Clan dropship- what amount of logos would be 'military' and how much makes it looks like a NASCAR racer.

In that case, I'll send Stygg's Hammer instead.

That works

Seems suspect. ISF is watching. Carry on.

No. We listen to the mods here, because they've been doing this for literally decades and know what topics set people off. Don't let the paranoid brainworms from other places infect you. The mods are tyrants in the shadows, they're fellow fans who can be trusted to head off what flame wars they can, and stamp out those they can't.

Oh, right, thanks that slipped my mind I totally forgot about that.

Stefan Amaris is just such a character per his description in the Liberation of Terra series. Regular gunnery/piloting, crazy force multiplier. Vasily Sandoval in ER:2750 is pretty similar. They exist, but they're just not used often *enough*.

There are plenty of leaders who aren't great MechWarriors. We just don't get their Piloting/Gunnery skills very often because, you know, they're not great MechWarriors and are unlikely to be used in a game. (But Sun-Tzu Liao had better be one of the pilots for the Emperor.) Keep in mind that so many leaders are exceptional fighters is a deliberate style choice for the universe, to reinforce its nonfeudal setting. Early writeups for the fictional call the heads of the Great Houses the "Successor Warlords." A person who wins often in battle is portrayed as more able, even justified, to rule. Devlin Stone became a king by his own hand, for an extreme example.

Now that said, the truly greatest MechWarriors - folks like Yoringa Kurita, Morgan Kell, Kai Allard-Liao, and Natasha Kerensky, the genuine 0/0 pilots - are portrayed as being so deadly that they're above politics. Of these terrifyingly exceptional fighters only The Black Widow held real political station, and that was part of a game being played by Ulric Kerensky. This also fits in with the aesthetic; a Baron or shogun could swing a sword with skill, but their greatest knights and samurai were exemplified by being deadlier than even their lords.

Pretty close to it indeed. I assume "XLA" replaces "LAM" in the normal Spectral LAM format because it's experimental.

God, now I'm actually hoping there's lore for this thing.

It would be nice to see, tried making it in MegaMec and couldn't get close.

General BattleTech Discussion / Re: Crimson Skies and Aerotech?
« Last post by Hellraiser on 20 May 2024, 20:09:09 »
Most solutions for Aerotech seem to be make it it's own game, which makes perfect sense but BT fans seem to love using all the toys in one game.

Put me in the camp of split them.
I mean, sure bombs & strafing are nice, but the only times I've ever played AT it was MUCH easier when you didn't essentially have 2 different fights going on.

Freely admit to having minimal experience.

Never played w/ a WS  (sadly)

3 Games

DS Strafing Mechs (Atmosphere)
6v4 ASF  (Atmosphere)
Fighters v/s Fighters/DS  (Space)

What I really like about the BM "Support" Rules is its a way to bring in AT w/o playing AT.
But in turn, I love the idea of actual SPACE FLEET battles.  Warships are Awesome,  Squadrons are Cool.
Trying to have ASF conduct a game at the same time BM are having a game...meh,  too complicated
Too much space required, can't fit in enough ground maps as it is on the table & play on overly small areas.

But hey, that's just IMO, only tried it once, was fun but would NOT want to do that ever again & certainly not with Both Sides having Air Power contesting the skies.
More fun to play an AT game one weekend to determine air support for a Mech game the next weekend, IMO.

Little mini-pizzas, but instead of normal bread or cauliflower crust, hollowed out caps of portabella mushrooms serve as the base, with some Prego bold and Spicy pizza sauce, a five cheese blend of Italian cheeses, cut up sweet onions, diced green bell peppers, reduced sodium real bacon bits and pepperoni.
